Because, dear, she endangered their lives with a real SUV. Next time try using a pretend SUV, and they’ll use pretend bullets. Duh!

According to descriptions in the Aubrey–Maturin book series (e.g., Master and Commander) by Patrick O’Brian, the knot thing did originate from counting actual knots in a cord as it was pulled through the fingers of the man holding the cord.

I will agree, though, that using the one minute of latitude as any sort of unit of measurement is just bizarre. It does, however, have the advantage of being one of those “in group” things for navigators, so it will probably never go away. Wink

I've heard the knots in a rope thing, but it seems flakey to me.

Navigational charts have tick marks for each degree, minute, and second of latitude & longitude. So when working on navigation one would measure the distance between two points against the latitude scale. So measuring in nautical miles is a natural thing to do.

Nowadays with everything being electronic, one doesn't use the old fashioned measurement tools. From my observations of pilots under about age 40, most don't actually understand navigation because of GPS or older RNAV systems. Charts are now all on iPads or displayed on flat panel screens in the cockpit instrument panel. There isn't any fixed scale with pinch zoom. But the computer will tell you instantly every distance, speed, compass course, correction angle, wind speed and direction, and any other thing one might want to know.

I've queried cruise ship officers and they would be as lost without GPS as the younger airline pilots. It's a brave new world out there.

I swear you boat guys can hijack a thread faster than the aviation guys.

Federal agents are working around the clock, doing exactly what we voted for...Trump and the administration have their backs, again doing what we voted for and y'all are talking about how fast aircraft carriers can go and knots?

It's hard taking some of y'all seriously sometimes.

BTW, Trump is going to stop all payments to sanctuary cities starts on Feb1

Comparing the DOJ to an aircraft carrier is just silly IMO.

DOJ Barbie has been in her job for a year and here is a list shown on Newsmax tonight of issues that need accountability and the number of arrests per:

Russia collusion hoax - 0
January 6th - 0
Mar-A-Lago raid - 0
Biden autopen - 0
2020 election - 0
Epstein - 0
Covid - 0
Benghazi - 0
DOGE findings - 0
Ukraine impeachment hoax - 0

That's just the tip of the iceberg. What in the hell has this woman been doing for the last YEAR?

Fire her and put in someone loyal to the cause who will actually do the job.

“The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who killed Renee Nicole Good suffered internal bleeding following the encounter, sources claim.

Jonathan Ross, the agent who shot Good three times in the face on January 7 during an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis, Michigan, endured internal bleeding to his torso, two US officials familiar with his medical condition said, according to CBS News.

The extent of his condition remains unclear as internal bleeding can also be classified as a bruise or contusion that causes mild or serious injury. …”

This intel took way to long to be published, doubt LSM will pick it up

The people behind the graft don't give one rats ass about her, only that she serves a purpose, and frankly I'd bet they salivated at the act as the one thing they've been waiting for to exploit.

We need to know what legislation allowed this, how it was written to not include any controls, and who sponsored it and supported it.

Besides what HRK posted, two other take-aways from this article:

1. Good's 'wife' Rebecca was filming the encounter with her cell phone, we've yet to see that footage released...why?

2. The below points to issues within the DOJ and how these high-profile cases are being handled:
quote:
In other recent news related to the case, at least six federal prosecutors resigned after the Justice Department allegedly ordered them to investigate Good's wife, Rebecca.

...
This order, along with the FBI's decision to kick state officials out of the investigation into the shooting, caused at least six federal prosecutors to resign, including the lead on the massive Somali fraud scheme case.

Joe Thompson, the former acting US Attorney of Minnesota who spearheaded the prosecutions in the Feeding Our Future food fraud case, submitted his resignation on Tuesday.

'It has been an honor and a privilege to represent the United States and this office,' Thompson wrote in an email obtained by the local newspaper.

His resignation was followed by at least five other senior members of the office, including Assistant US Attorneys Harry Jacobs, Thomas Calhoun-Lopez, and Melinda Williams.

Jacobs was the lead prosecuting attorney on the case against Vance Boelter for the assassination of Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark.

Rebecca Good should have been immediately detained, and if any legitimate charges could have been made, and/or a warrant (permissible) for her phone contents (video, texts, emails), especially in light of the ICE agent's injuries and the death of Renee Good.

Letting her leave with the phone was opportunity and (possibly critical) evidence likely lost.

The issue of local policing forces taking political action and obstructing, needs to be investigated and, if grounds found to support, charges filed.

We continue to allow ourselves to be fooled by all these claims of investigations and promises of accountability.

Our DOJ is either inept or complicit. DOJ Barbie needs to go.

Won't we all be surprised when we find out that our own tax dollars have been used to fund these riots through NGO's. NOT!

Pretty sure we're dealing with 2 separate resignation incidents. One in MN, and one in DC at Harmeet Dillons office.

“An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer has allegedly opened fire after being 'attacked with a shovel' by an assailant in Minneapolis.

The reported shooting comes amid civil unrest in Minnesota following the death of mother-of-three Renee Nicole Good last week during ongoing ICE operations.

Initial reports suggest the person was shot in the leg, but is in a stable condition and now in custody. …”

Attacked with a shovel. That's not dangerous. Have you watched the movie "Mr. Brooks" with Kevin Costner? He had a shovel.

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent is in the hospital after getting ambushed and attacked with a shovel by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, according to a late-night Jan. 14 post on X from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The incident happened in Minneapolis as federal law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted traffic stop of the illegal immigrant, who according to the DHS was released into the country in 2022.

“In an attempt to evade arrest, the subject fled the scene in his vehicle and crashed into a parked car,” said the post, after which he fled on foot. When the law enforcement officer caught up to him, he began to violently assault the officer, along with two other subjects who emerged out of a nearby apartment.
During the struggle, the attackers used a snow shovel and broom handle.

“Fearing for his life and safety as he was being ambushed by three individuals, the officer fired a defensive shot to defend his life,” hitting the initial subject in the leg, and resulting in the attackers scrambling back into the apartment.

At the moment, the officer and the subject are currently hospitalized, with the other attackers in custody, the DHS said.
