My mother let me drive her 1962 Chevy for my Drivers License road test. My first car was a 55 Chevy then a 1952 Chrysler Hemi New Yorker.

learned to drive in two of our family cars back in the late sixties. A 2 cycle 3 cylinder DKW Junior and a 1965 Chevy Impala.

I had a '79 Olds 98 Regency. Huge front seat, huge back seat, and a huge trunk. I learned all sorts of things at the Drive In.

Dad had an S10, mom an early 2000s Chevy Malibu. Split time in both. Drivers ed was an ex cop car Crown Vid from the early 90s just when they started to get round. Still the fastest thing I've ever driven.

I learned on an old Jeep. Don't know what year the Jeep was.

My Uncle took me out on the ranch in a field and said...Break, gas and clutch pedal. Told me how to use them and then said "drive"

Drive I did. I was probably about 13.

Cool thread! 1977 Chrysler Lebaron. My dad would take me on the weekend to the train station near our house. He let me drive around the big parking lot for hours while he read the Sunday papers in the passenger seat.

A couple weekends in when he was feeling like I could control the car well, knew where the corners were and was getting smooth, he asked me if I wanted to drive it home? I'll never forget the shock I felt, "Wait, you went me to do what??!!" Good memories!

Driver Ed cars were brand spanking new 1971 Impalas courtesy of the local dealer. Learned clutch on 1958 VW bug with 36 HP & no synchro and a 1969 Ford Econoline cargo van with three on the tree.
