Looking for thoughts on my 02' Dodge 24v 2500 turbo diesel extra cab. Has a matching canopy.
I am considering selling three pickups. All good rigs. But am considering consolidating and buying a new rig that will meet all my needs in one, new, completely reliable truck.

I love the dodge. Love its torque more than anything. Feels like it could move a mountain. Has 242k for mileage. Runs great. Is far from perfect. But virtually no rust.

I am getting ready to put it up for sale and am looking some thoughts on a price. I am in diesel country. Lots of diesel trucks around.

What do you guys think. Not wanting to over price. But a solid price to help pay for a new rig is definitely needed. Thanks guys and gals.

I’m not a car guy ORC, but I got to use my Dads 2024 Dodge 2500 briefly last year. You’re right, the torque and pulling capability were incredible.

Most I pulled was 10k but even at 65 it was right at 2k rpms uphill, never seemed to be struggling. Just felt good. Comforts were no different than any other make to be honest, pretty bare bones but I prefer than in a vehicle. Every upgrade is less towing capacity.

Any issues with that particular model year would have to be answered by someone more knowledgeable. But considering its mileage those issues would have to taken with a grain of salt.

If the price is right I’d say go for it.

Out of curiosity, which 3 trucks would you be giving up? Insurance would be lower for sure going from 3 to 1.

Look on Bring a Trailer, see what people are paying. They usually sell for more on there, might be worth the fees to list it there. I’d like to have one myself but they are a little higher than I want to spend.

I have no idea what your truck is worth but I would suggest checking NADA, KKB.com or Edmunds to get a ballpark figure of what your truck is worth. You can also checkout online classifieds like Facebook marketplace or www.autotrader.com to see what others are asking for the same truck in similar condition.

Any pre DEF diesel dodge commands a premium in my opinion. And if 4wd, a better premium

Go non Facebook marketplace, KB. And bring a trailer and see what they go do. 240k miles on that diesel is just getting broken in. If you price it fairly I would bet you sell in a very short period of time.

Around here the prices listed in the Blue Book are considerably (several thousand dollars) lower than what a truck like that will actually sell for.

This right here. There are quite a few OEM upgrades that are compatible with this truck architecture that were made long after the redesign.

242k miles is just getting it started, just throw a new dash panel at it and you are good to go.

In Nov. of ‘23 I traded in my 04 CTD for my ‘21 Tundra TRD Crew Max. While I knew I’d do better with a private sale I couldn’t be bothered dicking around. I got 8k for the truck with 272k on it in addition to the sales tax relief it amounted to almost 9k off the top. Good luck. By way of comparison by cousin sold his 04 CTD long bed a few months ago with only 116k on it and he got 22k!
