I have been having pain on the outside of my mid foot for several months. Doctor called it tendinitis. Before I look into custom made insoles I wanted to see if there were any recommendations for store bought insoles. It seems majority of the insoles are for overpronation which is the opposite of my problem. | ||

I've had great results from Powerstep Pinnacle Maxx insoles. The make a couple of models, depending on the problem or type you need and are more reasonably priced for high quality insoles. I have high, inflexible insteps and tend to underpronate. Superfeet Green insoles have worked pretty well over the years for running and everyday wear. | |||

Spend the money and get a set of custom orthotics, they are molded to your foot and work very well. Light years ahead of even the best off the shelf stuff. This is one area I will not cheap out on. | |||

I have used these for years. I went to Fleet Feet probably 10 years ago and used these foot reader thing and it suggested the greens and they work very well. I just picked up a set of New Balance insoles made by Suoerfeet that add cushioning. They feel great but they are so thick my shoes don’t fit with them in them. I would like to try some custom orthotics since I now have an FSA card that will cover the customs. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Is your pain around or in the cuboid bone? The reason I ask is my foot doc had me wear a relatively cheap ankle support for a few weeks. It helped. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box. | |||

Yes. That is exactly where the pain is located. My Dr. also provided a brace but it's a little bulkier than I would like. | |||

I wore mine for 2 weeks, then it almost seemed to irritate the area. On follow-up, he said go a week without it. I only wear it now if I’m on unstable ground. (Desert) He also suggested padding the area just under and just forward of the lateral malleolus. I use a chunk of thick moleskin foam under my sock. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box. | |||

That would likely be best option. The other is wearing shoes that are designed for the necessary support. Go to any run specialty store and seek-out their category of shoes for support. Any self-respecting running shop will understand what you're looking for and at the very least be able to discuss the issue and point you in a direction for product. | |||

I also have the same issue of the edge of the brace stopping directly on the sore spot. One day I wear the brace it feels great, the next day it is irritating. | |||
