DUNCAN, S.C. (WPDE) — A convicted sex offender was tackled and detained by a group of fathers in a South Carolina Cracker Barrel parking lot Sunday after a 15-year-old girl accused the man of looking under bathroom stalls in the ladies' room.

Online records from the Duncan Police Dept. confirmed that 53-year-old Douglas Lane of Charlotte, North Carolina, has been charged with voyeurism, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a police report, Lane said he was in the bathroom because he had to use the bathroom really bad and did not realize that he was in the wrong bathroom.

The victim told police that while she was in the bathroom she noticed something move by her feet and when she looked down a man had his head under the stall looking at her, the report states.

Witnesses told police Lane tried to run past the girl's dad and other people to get away.

A WYFF viewer shared a video showing Lane on the ground with a bloody face and shirt outside the restaurant.

Duncan police Chief Carl Long told the TV station that the parents involved were in town for a girls' softball tournament and detained Lane until responding officers arrived.

A witness to the incident told WYFF that he and his son saw a man with a very bloody nose run outside and then someone tackle the bloodied man on the other side of the parking lot.

Witnesses also told WSPA that the 15-year-old was not the only girl in the bathroom.

“I’ll never forget the way they looked after,” one witness told the TV station. “They were traumatized.”

Why does he look so good? I would expect a larger mud hole stomped in his ass.

When reporters questioned Chief Long about the bloodied condition of the suspect, he replied "Yeah that wasn't right, I guess. I should have had my guys wait a while longer to respond so we could let those dads offer more in-depth counseling to Lane."

I can't say that I would have punched him if it were my daughter. That's hard on the hands. A few swift kicks to the head and groin however .....

South Carolina not only allows citizens to take a felon into custody, but it also allows them to use deadly force if necessary.

Lucky for him they stopped when they did.

Sometimes kicking a man while he is down is justified.

Yep, sad the fathers showed this garbage a bit of compassion. He most assuredly doesn't deserve it.

Perverts like this are why some of us are so opposed to letting just anybody 'self-identify' which bathrooms they want to use.

In some places, this guy could say he 'identifies as a woman' and nobody would be able to prevent him from going into the Ladies' room to spy on little girls.


And, he should consider himself VERY fortunate that this was all the beat-down he got. It's one thing to say you would stomp on somebody's face - it's quite another to do so in front of your children.
