They snapped to the fact contributions to the Kennedy School of Smuggling were about to take a nose dive.

I think the back breaker was Mike Pompeo (CIA Director)

Pompeo canceled his appearance at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum on Thursday

Minutes after the event was scheduled to begin, Elmendorf took the stage and announced Pompeo was a no-show.

“We will try to reschedule it as soon as we can, but the CIA director, is obviously, in charge of his schedule,” Elmendorf said. “We are not in charge of his schedule and he gets to decide when and where he speaks, of course.”

Pompeo's ltr to Harvard:

Elmendorf was very deceiving when he said "but the CIA director, is obviously, in charge of his schedule"

Pompeo canceled at the very last hour because Harvard disgraced their institution, and Pompeo refused to go along.

adding: one more example of why Donald Trump is so important. Do you think John Brennan (Obama CIA Director) would have canceled his Harvard speech ?

In his letter, he should have refrained from this silly "Ms. Manning" and "she/her" crap.

Bradley Manning is male, I don't care how the traitorous little shit styles his hair or how much makeup he slathers on.

Harvard To Manning: You Ain't No Fellow No More

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

IMO, it's really simple. If you have XX chromosomes then you're a female; XY chromosomes then you're a male. It doesn't make a shit what surgeries you've had, or what hormones you've taken, or how you dress, or how you fix your hair, or how you identify yourself.

I may choose to identify as a fire hydrant but that doesn't make me one. The fucking country has gone insane.

Pompeo's absence was conspicuous and I think Harvard had little choice but to address it in some way. I'm not at all impressed with their reaction, as Harvard started this stupid freaking shit in the first place.

The quick response was triggered by the timing of the events. Harvard had Mike Pompeo coming to talk on Thursday (yesterday).

Elmendorf had to get up and announce that Pompeo was a "no show", while Elmendorf had a letter from Pompeo that said:

"I believe it is shameful for Harvard to place its stamp of approval upon her treasonous actions"

"Harvard has placed her in a position of honor"

"You have traded a respected individual who served his country with dignity for one who served it with disgrace and who violated the warrior ethos she promised to uphold when she voluntarily chose to join the United States Army."

Pompeo called out Elmendorf in a very direct and hard hitting manner.

Echoing Jim Shugart, it's really simple. If you're a convicted traitor, you're a traitor, no matter what the configuration of your chromosomes. Manning is one. Harvard demonstrates, once again, that intellectual potential has no bearing on sound decision making. They're idiots, and they have sullied the reputation of arguably the most prestigious university in America. Fuck the fuckin' fuckers

Wikipedia link about Manning

"Six weeks after enlisting, she was sent to the discharge unit"

"The decision to discharge her was revoked, and she started basic training again"

It is surprising that Manning was given TS/SCI clearance in 2008.

The army screwed up in letting someone with such profound mental/emotional/gender issues have access to classified material.

Now what's more important, the security of our nation, or hurting the tender feelings of a gentle soul? Wink

(I am sure our Middle East enemies will be much more understanding and hospitable re Manning's situation Smile )

Would these be the "infantafascists?"

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

It was a numbers game.

It's always been a numbers game.

Why was the decision to discharge revoked? Because if a Soldier is separated for "failure to adapt", the higher chain of command holds it against the basic training chain of command of being incapable of training a civilian into a Soldier. With performance evaluations being so focused on quantitative measures, everyone is pressured to be 100%.

It's also seemingly easier to "kick the can down the road" in the military. It would be quicker to get him through basic training than it would be to discharge him...
