I got an AA degree in General Education, so no, not anything in that field. Afterwards, I attended a trade school in Cincinnati and retired after 40 years in the mortuary field. I’m a yes. I received a BS in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Welding Metallurgy in 1976. I just retired in June after working in metals fabrication & manufacturing, primarily in Quality Control/Inspection & Quality Assurance areas. I’ve been fortunate that even with the inevitable ups and downs of being in the workforce for 44 years to be able to stay in my chosen career field. Bill Gullette

^^^ You must have seen an amazing string of innovation and change over the years. The changes in production over your career would make an interesting show on one of the history/science channels. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

I did it kind of bass ackwards, compared to most of y'all who have posted. I kind of stumbled into software development after a technical education in U.S. Navy Guided Missile School, then went to college while working, earned a BS with math major, computer science minor, worked in software development (and teaching same) for another 26 years. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

BBA in Management Information Systems (IT) and have been programming one way or another for 35 years or so. Started out doing COBOL programming and strangely enough, had to pull that back out of the recesses of my brain for aspects of my current project.

I'd be a yes, but my degree is a DD214. After I was "Retired" I worked in my field until 4 years ago. 62 was long enough. Now I'm a wrench for 4 years then will retire.

I was a cop before I took college classes at night. I graduated with a Batchelors in Criminal Studies. I was a full time cop, in the reserves and worked off duty, so I had three jobs and went to school at night. C student in high school, graduated Cum Laude from NC Wesleyan. My HS counselor said I’d never amount to anything ….boy was he wrong. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. I went to college thinking I wanted to be a programmer. I learned it was full of weird people and quickly exited. I toyed around with a History major but took pre business in the meanwhile. I ended up majoring in International Business and German. I've been in sales for 13 years. I voted no because I no longer do, but I did for 10 years right out of college, so the degree did get used.

My degree is in Poly Sci, I had originally (for a short period of time only ) thought about going to law school after that. I didn't, used my degree and ROTC to get my U.S. Army Officer's commission. Spent 3 years on active duty as an Armor officer then left and entered law enforcement. Before deciding on Poly Sci, I had planned on getting a History degree. However, during my first quarter in college I did bad in my history class and really good in my poly sci class, so I said - what the heck... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

Thanks for the responses. I think it’s been kind of fun to see the answers to the poll. It’s run pretty consistently “yes” for just over half of those responding. Just under 25% “no,” and the remainder scattered among the 3 other choices. My degree is Renewable Natural Resources, majoring in Rangeland Management. Through most of my Forest Service career I was a Rangeland Management Specialist (GS-454), responsible for administration of grazing permits and the allotments on NFS lands, for analyzing potential impacts/benefits to the herbaceous component in proposed actions, e.g. timber sales. Periodically, a grazing allotment would be run through the NEPA process, looking at stocking rate, plant diversity, riparian health, etc. Later in my career I promoted up to a line officer position as District Ranger. _______________________________________________________ despite them

BS in Mass Communication with a concentration in Visual Communication is the degree I have. My profession is a software engineer. Here is the but… I did spend 3 years in college pursing a Computer Science Degree before I decided that it was WAY to much math. The programming aspect I did great in, not so much the math part. All this was when the Internet was in it’s infancy. So there was no Web Programing degree, but I kind of sort of made my own web programming degree before there was one with combing the programming elements from Computer Science with the visual elements from my Mass Comm degree. Hopefully that sort of makes some sense.
