I used to work in the same town as the SPLC HQ (Montgomery, AL) and would sometimes see some of these people in local restaurants. What struck me was how vile and condescending they were towards restaurant staff, in particular minorities. A former coworker dated the founder's (Morris Dees) daughter back in the late 1970s. He told me years ago that Dees was only interested in the money to be made, not the plight of the "victims". Good on the Justice Department for doing this. JMHO, YMMV. | |||
