In the yahd, not too fah from the cah |
The most we usually do is cut the battery cables to drain power to any remaining airbags and prevent any electrical shorts. Having a vehicle that won't shut off would probably be a new one to most fire crews. The fact that there is either no fuel pump inertia switch or that it failed to function is pretty incredible.

Looks like Porsche needs to take that one for inspection and testing and replace it with a nice new one and an apology.

Go ahead punk, make my day |
Hopefully your Insurance totals it and you can buy a new vehicle... NOT a Porsche...

Interesting, glad you are safe and the Macan is stopped. I am on a forum called Rennlist.com. Bunch of Porsche know how on that site. You should take this over there and see what responses you get.

Good to know! With the amount of new vehicles that use the push to start/stop buttons maybe this will need to be a future training area? Since I drive an old car with a conventional key having a vehicle that cannot be shut off after an accident damages some of the electronics is something I hadn't even considered.

I read all the responses and I know the car is "off" now. I didn't see anyone suggesting the old potato in the exhaust outlet (s). I suppose that car might have many exhaust exits but this sure used to work in the old and simpler days.

Thanks again everyone. I always had the option of getting a beer and waiting for it to run out of gas. I didn't want to do anything to possible damage the engine twin turbos and all. After a while I knew the fuse box was extremely damaged so something was shorted out and after 3 hours of idling it did not appear to be a huge risk. I have a long drive way and just parked it in the middle so if it did catch fire it could just burn itself out. Not Porsche's fault due to the damaged involved. Their tech support lacks a lot to be desired. Actually when honestlou posted where the fuse box was I knew the source of the problem. I thought about calling the fire department but I was worried they would do something that would damage it further. No way they would have known how to turn it off and I thought they would feel obligated to do something to get it shut off. It's currently on a car hauler heading for Pittsburgh, (2 states away).
