Ohh, hell no! If I were able to own a 2018 Porsche and they pulled that I would be fuming. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

Well you know the football game and all. Unless they can hook it up to a computer their useless. All they could tell me was to turn the key all the way to the left.

Football game?? I’d be fuming if they did not help. When I had my Audi I dropped the loan key to my apartment into the drivers seat track. I pulled into the dealer 5 minutes before close. They pulled my seat out and reinstalled about 40 minutes finally found the key and at no charge. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. You should be calling Porsche in the am. They will be both interested in the issue and lack of concern on your dealer's part. That is a safety issue the left you with. Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Be not wise in thine own eyes |
I would agree. Car continued to run after being rear-ended and then the dealership leaving you to figure it out on your own. Then in the owners manual they have a DANGER warning about removing fuses while the engine is running. My original post pointed to where the Engine Electrical fuse was located. I quickly edited after finding the warning. Was actually a bit concerned, up until you posted that you got it shut-off. Had pictured you getting zapped trying to pull the fuse. “We’re in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for our administration…President Obama’s administration before this. There are two concerns; one is that the engine won't shut down. That's been accomplished and would have been my suggestion; if the ignition fuses hadn't been available, then pulling ignition leads would have been another choice, and one of the few remaining. With the electrical system damaged, however, a big concern would have been a short and fire danger. Disconnecting the battery has alleviated an ongoing concern there. For the same reason, don't reconnect the battery.

I did talk to Porsche USA, they are who connected me to the west coast Porsche service dealership. None of the 3 were any help. I called Porsche road side service also. This will piss you off and is a direct quote “get a beer and wait for it to run out of gas”. Christine part 2, this was actually very scary, I had no idea what it was going to do. I was worried it would end up in gear somehow. I was getting about a dozen alarms, brake balance, air bags,.....

Is this still running? A bunch of shop rags in the air intake will shut it off.

Get on the fifty! |
Make a really long detailed post on their Facebook page, name names. You'll get connected to the right people pretty quick. Same for the dealer page. I'd be pissed. Not necessarily that they didn't have an immediate answer, but that they left you hanging. You'll get an ass kissing GM phone call shortly. Hope you're alright. I am not a fan of complicated vehicles. The older I get, the more I want what I had in the 70's: something simple, from the 60's, with manual windows. I miss manual windows.

Middle children of history |
Glad you got it figured out. Having an engine that won't shut off could be a serious situation since you have no idea if the accident caused a fuel leak or electrical short somewhere that could lead to a fire. Since the dealer and OEM weren't helpful this time I wonder if calling the fire department makes sense? They have lots of training on how to make a vehicle "safe" after an accident. If another member ever has the issue of not being able to shut off the engine I would suggest locating the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor and unplugging it. This would be a very straight forward and safe way to get the engine to stop running. Without the airflow signal from the MAF the ECU won't be able to keep the engine running. The MAF is typically located in plan view on top of the engine, on the main intake tube between the throttle body and air filter box. It will often have a wide flat plug with multiple wires running to it. None of the wires are high voltage and unplugging it while the engine is running won't damage anything. It will generate a check engine light code though. Unplugging a battery often won't work as the alternator provides enough voltage/current to keep the engine running, and as mentioned you could damage the alternator by unhooking the battery with a running engine. After the engine has stopped by unplugging the MAF then it's absolutely smart to unhook the battery terminals.

there's at least 1 new model of a very common vehicle that is coming that will have an ECU for each headlamp.
