For the guys who fly for work.

I already have the greatest carry on bag created under gods earth. Saddleback leather made sure of that with the baby beast.

However, doing plenty of travel with suits now and was wondering what you gents are using. I saw a tumi tri-fold bag on a bunch of sites.

Wanted to ask the hive your thoughts.

Thank you.

I use a luggage Works 26" executive bag. It's been fairly bulletproof for about fifteen years or so now. I have a smaller one for shorter trips that stayed on the road 24/7 in a tanker, for about 5-6 months at a stretch. The bigger bag goes international constantly and has seen plenty of abuse. The only thing it has needed has been occasional replacement wheels. Those are important.

The bags are heavy as suitcases go, but they hold up really well. Between deployments, trips, extended duty, and being beaten up all over the globe, they last.

I travel every week for work and have for 20 years. Flying much? Traveling a lot? Briggs and Riley is the best. Tumi is not what it used to be. I have a Tumi bag and it's crap.Just crap. I have had the B&R bag 16 years and it is still rock solid. The Tumi bag is about 10-12 years old and needs a wheel and the trim is toast. I don't post at all here but am on here every day. My two cents.

Thank you for posting. Never heard of them. The uptight garment bag looks very nice and a similar price point as the Tumi. I am just sick of hauling around two
Bags when I need suits. Will consider that over the tumi now.

I travel weekly and wear suits. I use a standard rolling carryon size Samsonite suitcase. I hate to check a bag, just a waste of time. It's all about the right fabrics and how you fold the jackets for travel. Never had any wrinkles in a jacket that wouldn't fall out overnight on a hanger in the hotel room closet. I travel with the one suitcase and a messenger style briefcase and nothing more. Can easily pack two suits and multiple shirts, etc for a multi-day trip.

I travel almost every week, and have for 30+ years. After lots of crap luggage, I use a Briggs & Riley and a polycarbonate Rimowa.

Briggs & Riley +2. They warranty their bags against damage. Any damage, from anything. Had mine 10+ years.

I appreciate this thread and will look to B&R in the future as I replace others. I cannot replace the one I've used for 20+ years because it's not used anymore.

Not garment bags, per se but was very pleased with carrying the aeronaut on a number of flights, including international when I didn't want to check things Thomas Bihn

Truth

B&R is the gold standard when it comes to luggage. They have several collections, the Baseline collection is their most popular and is used the most amongst business travelers; the other collections are really about materials or, design aetheeic. Their warranty is the envy of everyone in the luggage business, the no questioned asked slogan is true. I had an internal clip that broke which prevented the handle of the trolley on my roller from retracting. It sucked dealing with it during boarding however, I sent it in, no issue, 2-weeks later got it back refurbished. They are pricy however in in this age where big-box discount and warehouse stores are carrying cheap luggage, well designed and built luggage makes a difference. Make the investment and you won't need another piece of luggage for 20-years.

As an aside, Tumi is owned by Samsonite, Samsonite has been bought and sold more times than anyone can remember. Brands such as Travel Pro, Eagle Creek and Luggage Works/Purdy also solid and each have unique features which sets them apart.

I also like B&R but my favorite and longest lasting is a Samsonite carry on that had a small suit folder that fit inside. Easy for a week travel. I have used for for at least 15 years and countless flights and miles. Lived in Hong Kong and traveled Asia weekly.

I've been using a Briggs and Riley for about 15 years. I'm a pilot at FedEx and drag it all over the place. I often dead head to start or end trips on the pax carriers as well. I usually carry it on but sometimes have to check it. Its seen a lot of use. Its awesome. If I need a new one before I retire I will definitely get another Briggs and Riley.

I’m still using an old samsonite case which were standard for flight crew many years ago. It’s now a tad larger than accepted carryon. 80% of the time depending on my boarding it’s never a problem

Paying attention to the thread as I’ve worn the rubber off the wheels

I'm a luggage junkie. I do echo the sentiments on Tumi (no more lifetime warranty) and Briggs and Riley (no question lifetime warranty).

However, I switched two years ago to traveller pro crew. I was looking for the lightest weight while still being sturdy and spacious.

I bought two sets, black and blue for my wife and I. Large, med5, and carry on. They nest when in storage.

We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I got a sweet deal on TravelPro Platinum a few years ago and the warranty on them was right up there with Briggs & Reilly so I jumped on it and haven’t looked back. I regularly fly between the East Coast and Hawaii and to the UK and Europe on occasion. Haven’t had an issue yet
