That’s also what I’m seeing Bluecobra- looking at the bid history of the person who just outbid me by a couple hundred it seems they like to tip toe in and disappear.

Well MOFO you better hope someone else comes along or your actually going to have to pony up.

Last run on BAT for me.

Haha, that was me! Bidding on a first-generation Supra. It was a lot of fun and I thought I threw out a couple of kill shots but that other dude REALLY wanted that car!

Perfect example of people on BAT with too much money. Yes I like the Pilot, but even in like new condition this price is crazy and this is why I’ll never win an auction there : https://bringatrailer.com/list...nda-pilot-fl400r-22/

I've been tracking 911s on BAT for the past 18 months, hoping to see some good deals on 996. However, I'm under the impression that BAT sales are consistently over valued. I jump on Craigslist and FB Marketplace and find plenty of 911 that are asking much less than BAT. BAT does a superior job of showcasing the car, so that may give the buyer the impression that the car is flawless and super clean.

If and when I get to the point of buying a 10-15 year old 911, it will likely be local and face-to-face and at a lower cost than BAT.

^ The 996 has probably been my least favorite 911
But, wouldn't turn one down & is probably the cheapest you can get into super Beetle ownership Razz

Been watching the auctions for many years, go to Kissimmee's auction, specifically Mecum,

Seems that at the last few auctions they have a lot more "if bids" (they call it the bid goes on) than normal, and Dana Mecum appears to be making more deals on his seller fees in order to move cars.

In the past the seller either lifted the reserve or he walked and let you not sell, there were no deals or if he did it was for a favored seller or a car that was super close.

This weekend in Monterey CA I saw several sales where he gave up more than the seller fee, he got into his buy fee to move a car. Same at the last auction in PA, less cars sold on the block, lots more "Bid goes on" and lots of fee deals.

Granted the Buy fee on a $2.5 million car is 250,000, and giving up $50K nets him $200K, however a year ago he'd have netted $500K and not had to make a deal.

It just appears that the top of the collector market may be here with the higher interest rates and inflation, especially if Rollins is dumping his collection,

As crazy as he is on the show, he's been pretty good at reading the market...
