Sadly it looks this new Pope was elected more because he's anti-Trump than anything else.

I have a number of friends who have switched to Orthodoxy, after the rape issues.

They seem to be far happier than my friends who are trying to stay Catholic, and aren’t willing to go Lutheran and reject Rome, all together.

I sincerely hope not. It would be disappointing if TDS was responsible for electing the next pope. If it were true, Trump should levy tariffs on the Vatican. :-)

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I'd be fine with shipping a C-130 of illegals to "greet" the Pope at the Vatical if he's so friendly about "open borders."

My wife's whole family is Catholic. She wanted the Catholic wedding, so I completed my confirmation and we got married in the local cathedral. One of her uncles is a priest, now a bishop, and he actually flew in and did the ceremony for us. Whenever we visit her family, or her parents visit us, they go to church (they never call it mass) and suddenly me wife is checking out nearby churches again. I've told her flatly that I will not go.

We had an incident in 2019. She begged, nagged and guilted me into going to this church nearby us. During the homily, the priest went on a political tirade that was a thinly masked slam on Trump's latest news cycle. I forget exactly what he said, but my blood was boiling and during one of his punchlines, I started to stand up and walk out. She gripped my knee with a claw hand. I told her my compromise was that in exchange for not embarrassing her and walking out, I was never setting foot in a fucking Catholic church again. Francis turned it into a leftist propaganda machine, and I won't subject myself to it. This latest guy? Well, let's just say he ain't bringing me back to the fold.

Last time I mentioned this, I got emails from five or six different forum members telling me how great the Catholic church is, how wrong I am, and how I need to come back and try to affect change in my parish. Didn't respond to a one of them. Don't both with the emails this time.

The always vile and anti-American G-D Commie shit-bags Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod, and John “Pizza Gate” Podesta, need to be added to armored’s list.

Most Catholics I know turned away from the church, as a result of Pope Francis, This guy will increase that outward flow.

Downtown... with as young as this guy is, I am probably never returning myself.

I will continue to worship on my own and continue to follow the word of God as written instead of these new and perverse interpretations these idiots try to convince us of.

I guess the separation of Church and State is gone. Could he have not waited a few weeks before wading into American politics? I did not see any comments about the rampant antisemitism on our college campuses.

I equate people who do this with people who leave the country because they don't like the President.

ulsterman...

I do not see it as being the same thing.

I think "turning away from the church" as posted by downtownv describes people that are doing what I am doing. I will not set foot in a Roman Catholic Church, but I am still a Roman Catholic. I will worship as per the teachings of the Bible and my upbringing and not "go along" with what is being pushed by the leaders of the church in recent years.

I did find this and it gave me a little hope. I am not sure how to embed a Twitter/X post, but I will try:

Shit... That did not work. Here is the URL: Initial Thoughts on Leo by Michael J. Matt
