My wife and I are in the market for a new camera.
Several years ago with the advent of digital photography the Cannon AE-1 film camera I own was put away. Since then we have owned several digital cameras that we have purchased from either Ebay or a big box store.
I am looking on Amazon but would like to know if there are any dedicated camera/electronic web stores or national brick and mortar stores that you like and have bought from.
To give an idea what kind of camera we are looking for, it would be a DSLR changeable lenses camera or a good point and shoot with a non removable lenses.
We also like either Cannon or Nikon.

Thanks

I second Yooper's recommendation of B&H Camera in NYC. The provide very good service, and they have people who can either talk to you on the phone or chat online, who actually know what they are talking about.

A big B&H fan here. Their customer service is the best by far.

I used to only buy from B&H, but Adorama has been my go-to for the last 2 years. There are a half dozen "mid-major" retailers I like that are one step above a mom and pop who have invested in their online platform that I will frequent when I am looking for something.

I still use amazon and Best Buy from time to time when sales are good as well.

I'm another fan of B&H, have bought a lot of gear from them. If it's Canon you're thinking about, they have some pretty good deals on refurbished at the Canon website. Another possibility is the Canon based website Photography-on-the.net, I've been very happy buying there from established sellers.

Adorama and B&H Photo/Video. Stay away from 42nd Street Photo.

B&H, Adorama, and Abe’s of Maine.

Usually in that order.

B&H, Adorama, Amazon (if it's actually Amazon and not a 3rd party). Any place else and you rosk gray market or counterfeit.

If you don't mind used, you can save quite a bit. For Canon, try www.photography-on-the.net. I've both bought and sold there.

My buying experiences with B&H have all been excellent. They are very helpful on the phone as well.

New = B&H
Used = KEH

B&H and Adorama are very good. My wife has also made purchases from Camera Land NY and been happy with her buying experience.

Well I like B&H... Big Grin. And Amazon for it's Prime shipping.
Other then that I shop a ~local camera shop in Nashville but sadly it just sold out and moved away. I had attended training and product seminars there.

B&H have a stellar reputation and fair pricing.
Even on laptops etc. B&H Photo Video is the largest non-chain photo and video equipment retailer in the United States. They are always near the top of my places to shop when shopping online.

I support my local store: Delray Camera Store

In Delray Beach, Fl

They will come close to the internet shops and are there for advice and support when I need it. I have been dealing with them for 30 years!
