That's only happened a couple of times but when it did happen, they were standing a couple of feet apart, so we did the same, each went to one side of them.

Really, my impression is that this guy has been looking for a while, and happened to find one locally. Could and may still be fantastically wrong. I'll follow up tomorrow. If I don't, check the obits.

I'm curious. What is an Arizona firearms bill of sale? It's not required here and I've never seen or heard of one.

But ok in the PD parking lot?
Maybe with some advance notice to the station that you'll be conducting a transaction there?

I sold about 40% of my milsurp collection through FTF sales several years back. Basically all of the meetings were held either in a Wal-Mart parking lot or the parking lot of the local Cabelas.

Funny story (or not so funny, depending on how you look at it):

A few years ago, one of the local PDs made a big deal about reserving a section of their parking lot for a safe place to do FTF meetings for stuff like Craigslist/Facebook Market/Armslist transactions. They did a press release, put some signs up in the area, and installed a large security camera on a pole.

The thing is, that security camera wasn't connected.

I was "security theater", designed to make folks feel better.

Our local PD has a designated spot right up front for face to face sales , child custody swaps , etc. I've never used it but then I've never sold a gun to a complete stranger that I knew nothing about .

I've bought and sold a number. While I acknowledge there's plenty that could go wrong, it hasn't happened yet.

Someone mentioned having it disassembled and no mags or ammo present. Can't really have it apart, as I'm selling it with the box, and it takes standard AR mags. I'll just have to be extra careful. It will be in my back seat, inspection will take place there and nowhere else. If he produces an AR mag from somewhere on his person... I don't know what.

I'll tell you guys what it is after the sale takes place, but the only market for this gun is either a collector or a videogamer, and his handle comes back to only videogame videos and nothing else. I advertised the gun as having been shot and not a NIB collector's piece. I'm pretty positive it's a young guy who wants to buy his favorite gun from any of about a dozen games that came out in the last two decades. Based on that alone, my nerves aren't really up and amped over this sale. I'm not feeling complacent, just... I think it's a kid who finally put together cash for his dream gun.

That "Arizona Bill Of Sale" pretty much eliminates one of the main reasons I do FTF buys of firearms, Smudge, but to each his own.

Yeah... I had already emailed him and said "let's skip it." I don't want a rando having my mailing address and I don't need his. If that's a deal-breaker for him, oh well.

Devils advocate here. Why is it bad form in a gun store parking lot but fine at any other business? I cant think of any business who would want your private sale taking place on their property. Using their security cameras as your backup protection.

Why create a paperwork requirement that doesn't exist, and makes a trail you aren't required to make?

I object to this on philosophical grounds because it about halfway buys into the idea that guns are some special, super-dangerous form of property that ought to be more controlled and regulated. You are buying into the basic idea of gun registration and more regulation. Don't step onto the slippery slope.

With them being in the actual gun business standing in their lot selling your stuff is kinda shitty..like selling lemonade in front of a grove and you’re not connected to the grove or farmer…

Selling plates in front of a restaurant when you don’t work there…

That kinda thing

I don't think most LGS would approve of side deals being made on their property.

gpbst3, because those other stores don't primarily deal in firearms. The LGS proprietor would want to be handling the sale inside and making some money on the deal.

You would think. I asked at a prominent Range and Gun store that advertises transfers and has a nice range that I shoot at often. Wanted to know if I could come in, with a buyer (pre arranged appointment or walk in) to do a transfer. They said no... too much trouble even though I was willing to pay their full transfer fee. I'm sure with as may independent gun dealers in the Metroplex one could be found, but this was my experience with this particular place.

Not sure about parking lot. Here's the applicable Florida Statute; parking lot question might be open to interpretation.
