Local PD parking lot?
I would not choose the PD. They may get curious and come out to see what is up and fuck the whole thing up.
I've done a couple in a PD sub-station parking lot. There were even a few LEOs around who appeared to be used to seeing it. They were close enough to know what was happening & didn't bat an eye. Of course, this was before our state went to FFL required transfers.

What are you doing tomorrow afternoon?

This, I well know, and I do not miss that nonsense.

Be like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly with one extra guy. Who's who? Couldn't tell you until tomorrow, at high 2:00.

drill sgtWherever you end up if at all possible get the transaction on video be it private property / government property / etc using their installed cameras or your own dash cams or go pro cameras ... Well populated parking lots might have lots of people around that if something did happen how many different stories as to what they saw happening...As well if some Karen saw something and ended up making a panic phone call to the authorities and getting a over zeleous response.......... Do the best to protect yourself. ............................. drill sgt.

bendableWould it be worth a fee to go through an FFL dealer ?
That way everyone is not only safe but the transaction is documented and won't likely come back on you in the future .

Chowser99% of the time, if they don't want to meet at a local PD, that's a clue.
if they call last minute to change location, that's a sign they're going to rob you.

Appliance BradWe did so many buys in Bob Evans parking lots that our kids would ask when we did a family dinner or breakfast there were we getting another gun.

Why not just do it at the gun shop parking lot?
Most states don’t have to use a FFL to sell ftf.
Plus it’s bad form to do gun sales in their property.
Most PDs advertise they have a “safe exchange” location in their parking lots for sales…
That’s where I’d want to meet. If he says no, that would be a deal breaker.

I wish I had that many local friends. My award-winning personality makes it challenging.

I was encouraged to see he brought up filling out an Azizona firearms bill of sale. I had planned to bring two copies, but he said he would bring some first, so I suggested we just bring one copy each with our relevant sections filled out and finish them tomorrow. Really, my impression is that this guy has been looking for a while, and happened to find one locally. Could and may still be fantastically wrong. I'll follow up tomorrow. If I don't, check the obits.

These 3 would be one of my picks just make sure it is open area and arrive early so you pick the location in the parking lot and make you know what is going on around you.

ridgeratI have met buyers twice at a Walgreens parking lot.
And I have the gun at least partially disassembled upon meeting. The buyer can see wear on parts as I or he assembles it. Mags introduced last. No ammo present.

sourdough44I’ve done a few of the big box store lots here in WI, buying or selling. I try to develop a ‘feel’ before meeting, never a problem.
When an inspection is warranted, try to keep that in the back seat, out of sight. After that it’s cased or boxed when it leaves the seat.
Depending on what & where, yeah, you can have your buddy along.
