He no vlerry smart....

A Chinese man is now bedridden for life after he sold his right kidney as a teenager to the black market to buy the latest Apple products.

Wang Shangkun was 17 years old when he made the fatal decision. Shortly after the illegal surgery he began suffering from a decreased level of kidney function.

Eight years on, the 25-year-old is now bedridden for life after his remaining organ failed.

Mr. Shangkun had sold his kidney to black market organ harvesters in April 2011 where he received AUD$4500 — purchasing a iPhone 4 and iPad 2 with the funds.

“Why do I need a second kidney? One is enough,” he said in reports at the time.

Mr. Wang now spends his days in bed and relies on dialysis to survive his kidney failure, local Chinese media recently revealed.

The illegal surgery had caused him to develop renal deficiency which is believed to have led to an infection due to the unsanitary setting of where it took place and the apparent lack of post-operative care, Mirror UK reported.

The operation occurred in the central province of Hunan without his parents’ consent. It was reportedly undertaken by two doctors who were also employed at local hospitals.

At the time Chinese newspaper Xinhua reported that Wang first made contact with the alleged harvesters through internet chat rooms.

He Wei, reportedly the leader of the gang, then made arrangements to hire a surgeon who worked at a nearby military hospital.

I thought gov't had no right to tell him what to do with his body. Now he had to get a back alley procedure. This should be tax payer subsidized, safe, legal and rare.

They arrested the people who illegally harvested his kidney, and was then awarded $300,000 in compensation.

Sounds like he should go back to the black market and buy a new kidney with some of that money.

I had a friend donate a kidney to save someone else (who incidentally, was the older brother of someone I dated once), and it was legal. Like sex, giving it away is legal.

For my wife/daughter? Absolutely.

For a friend/relative? Possibly, but my responsibilities to my own family would weigh heavily in the decision.

For an iPad? Not a chance.

You know I've asked myself the same question a hundred times when trying to figure out how I'm going to come up with funds to have a new gun built.

Wonder how much I can get for one of my kidney's?

Looks like it's about $3226 US. Certainly not enough for the risk.

And how many times have we heard over the years "I'd give my left nut for a (insert desire)"

Maybe he should have offered that instead?

Usually by married men who have no need for either the right or left one.

So he learned that black marker organ donation is not the best idea. Thanks for serving as an example for anyone else who has that dumb idea,
