Came back from a vacation last week to find that my chest freezer had died while I was gone. I had to throw out over 200 pounds of grass fed beef. It was pretty upsetting, to put it mildly.

I have wireless thermometers that go to a register that I keep in the main refrigerator, so that I can look at it whenever I open it. But that did me no good when I was over 1000 miles away.

I would like to get a different wireless set up that will allow for a Wi-Fi connection so that I can see it on my phone. Does anybody use a similar set up?

Do you have a Ring or similar camera system? You could add an indoor camera that points at a remote temp gauge. The only problem is it will not alert you directly.

Do you have someone nearby that can handle your meat if your away?

I've been using the MOCREO system that I purchased from Amazon. It's monitoring 3 locations - a chest freezer and side-by-side freezer in the garage, and the kitchen freezer. Just place your wifi access point somewhere with good reception and place the remote probes in the freezer. I like the app - it lets you set alert temps for each individual probe and provides temp tracking back to day 1. I've only had them running for about a year but so far I'm pleased. I originally had the garage fridge/freezer alarm temp set too low (that one really spikes) and it did alert me on the app and a loud beeping inside from the base unit, so I know it works.

Living in Alaska, I became a salmon snob and only eat line caught salmon from the Pacific Ocean. After moving to Houston, I bought a bunch of salmon and halibut from my favorite fish house in Anchorage, and filled up my freezer. Came back from a business trip to a tripped breaker and all of that amazing fish ruined.

I thought I had the wifi fridge thermometer figured out as I had bought one from the same company I use for wifi lightbulbs and wifi electrical outlets. It worked for about 6-months, and gave me piece of mind when traveling. However, the battery died and I can't get the MF'er to reconnect after a new battery. The company dropped it from the line-up and I went back to Amazon to find the rating plummeted on it.

Every time I looked for a replacement the price or ratings drive me away.

Like cudameat, I'm liking the Mocreo gadget from Amazon.

I have this: Yolink Thermometer .

It requires the Yolink smart hub, but I already had it for the water sensors, so it was a quick and easy solution to add the freezer temperature detector the the hub.

I’m using Thermoworks’ Node to monitor temps of a refrigerator, its freezer and the room from anywhere. Works well. I use batteries which last about a year, but it also comes with an AC adapter if you can’t access it that frequently. Can only use 2.4 Ghz wifi to connect to the internet.

We use a lot of temp sticks as well.

The main thing is to watch overall trends. A warming trend/irregular temp swing trend will be seen, before actual failure.

I appreciate everybody’s feedback. I went with this one, should be here today. Freezer should be here Friday. Then I get to restock it. Ugh.

I use the YoLink Smart Wireless Temperature/Humidity Sensor Wide Range for Freezer Fridge that I bought from Amazon. I have 3 freezers and have one in each. These read anywhere. A few weeks ago I received an alert on on of my garage freezers. I had apparently overloaded a circuit and popped a breaker.

An electrical outlet / plug monitor would also be a good addition. It will tell you if power goes out to the outlet.
