No, I don't mean ones that annoy you because they are giant blocks of text or other reasons.

What is the sig line that sticks with you, and of course whose is it?

Mine is "Remember, this is all supposed to be for fun..................." by DJpantless.

Arc.

Jallen's.

"Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me."

I quote this to my wife every time she asks why something didn't get done.

Can't remember who has it, but "leave the gun, take the canollis" made me laugh the other day when I was watching The Godfather. I always wondered where that line came from.

Talk about staying with you, that is the punch line from a cartoon, Carmichael, I clipped from the newspaper a long, long time ago, maybe 40 years ago. It was yellowed, and looked like one of the Dead Sea Scroll fragments when I lost it somehow.

I believe ntagmember was at my house when I inadvertently rediscovered it. I couldn't believe it.

It is now preserved for eternity in secure storage. Being the proprietor of said secure facility, I have some privileges and have uploaded it to share.

I guess you could say it has become a way of life.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

This one has always stuck with me:

A handgun is not there to strap on when you think it might be needed. If you think you'll need a gun, you bring a rifle and friends with more rifles. Either that, or you just don't go. A handgun is carried for every moment you don't think you'll need a gun."

“I used to be totally into Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and other shredders, and I tried to emulate what they did and really grow as a guitarist,” Mr. Hanneman said in “Louder Than Hell.” “Then I said, ‘I don’t think I’m that talented, but more important, I don’t care.’ ”

Someone has a jljones quote: "Anyone worth shooting in the head once, is worth shooting in the head twice."

That seems to me to be uncommonly good advice.

"I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation."

Alfred Hornik, Sunday, December 2, 1945 to his family, on his continuing duty to others for surviving WW II.

From early in my career when work email .sigs could contain more than corporate slogan dreck:

"When I go, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in his car."

"Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes."

They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

Rogue: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less

That line gives me a sharp stinging slap of reality

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
