You're right, she's a one-and-done. I neglected to think about that.

But we've got to get a good replacement lined up, and keep her Number Two from becoming Number One.

Unfortunately, I see little to no chance that the Commonwealth will go back to being a Red State, for several of the reasons already mentioned. I have no doubt that the Dems will use their control of the Legislature and Governorship to find ways to make their advantage permanent, much as they are attempting to redraw the electoral map for Congressional elections in Virginia. So many of the Democratic officials in Virginia have come from the Northeastern states which have long been Democratic strongholds. The federal civil service and even the military have over the decades have turned to the Democratic Party, which I would argue started during the Clinton Administration. Do a search on some of the officials mentioned in news accounts. I would have gladly lived out the rest of my life in Virginia but, for me, the political trajectory was pretty clear with the state elections in 2019, some funded by the Soros organizations.

When I left WV, I said, “I won’t go back.”

Now I hear myself saying, “I’ll likely retire in VA, but I won’t stay."

Your 2A rights are on the chopping block as Virginia Dems plot insane gun bans

Gun Owners of America says the bills unconstitutionally target the most commonly owned firearms in America

The Commonwealth of Virginia, once the cradle of American liberty and the home of the Bill of Rights, is witnessing a historic betrayal in real time.

On March 14, the Virginia General Assembly wrapped up their 2026 legislative session and rammed through over 15 pieces of anti-gun legislation. In just 60 days, the anti-gun left has nearly undone gun rights for millions of law-abiding Virginia residents.

Their crown jewel of tyranny? SB 749 and HB 217, two so-called "assault weapons" ban bills.

These identical bills landed at the desk of newly elected Democrat Gov. Abigail Spanberger during the final days of the legislative session and are currently awaiting her signature.

She has promised to sign them into law.

(More at FoxNews link.)

quote:
Make no mistake: SB 749/HB 217 have nothing to do with "safety" and everything to do with removing your Second Amendment rights. This legislation targets the most popular firearms in America — tools used by millions of law-abiding citizens for self-defense, competition and sport. According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are murdered with hands/fists than rifles of any kind. And over three times as many with knives. Yet anti-gun radicals want us to believe semi-automatic firearms must be banned.

. . .

quote:
Make no mistake — Gun Owners of America will not idly stand by while the Spanberger-led government of Virginia tosses our gun rights into the trash.

It's time to lay some serious support behind GOA, friends. They'll be the ones fighting for us while the Governor and her minions actively work against us.

It is hard me to fathom that the citizens of VA could have elected a worse politician over McAuliffe and Northam.

I relocated to VA from Ohio right after 9-11, so I could get into LE. It is sad to watch the state slide to what it is now.

I always considered VA more of a home over Ohio, and thought I would be back. But.. She is making it hard.

I just interviewed with the Medical Examiners Office in Richmond, and I am slated to start Ferrum Univ in the fall. But..

Luckily she is only in office one term, and I am praying we can find a good replacement. I also hope the good citizens will wake up and realize she what she is doing.. OR will be so fed up like they were with McAuliffe and vote correctly.

I'm with ya, sir. It's no time to give up -- instead, it's time to rally the apathetic voters (in my county last time 'round, voter participation was a measly 50%), support GOA, and push hard to defeat the D next time 'round.

Make Virginia Great Again! Big Grin

Well, you had a strong, family oriented, educated, Marine, business owner, who was a women of color.. Who was also very highly qualified running for Governor... What did you (Libs/Dems) do.....?

Voted for a white women who is basically going to destroy and take away everything you had and give it to people who want handouts...

I sure hope so.

I was told last weekend that in Roanoke only about 1000 early votes had been cast in this redistricting measure.

Gotta get out the votes!

Short summary: it's about timing.

The redistricting election takes place on April 21. If Republicans can prevent that redistricting from taking place, that's good. There's presently a ton of backlash aimed at VA Dems right now, thanks to their 2A-related game playing, and that may energize the Reps enough to knock down this proposed redistricting measure.

It's 15 minutes, but one can listen while washing dishes or walking the dog or whatever. I don't feel like I wasted the time.

They did the same thing in California with Gavin Newsom and Larry Elder, even calling him the "black face of white supremacy".

They'll talk a good game about needing a woman in there, or a person of color, or whatever, until one shows up who isn't in lockstep with their views. Give the leftiest lefty you know a couple beers, and then mention Clarence Thomas, they'll drop one with a hard-R.

Sort of on-topic:

Virginia Dem admits redistricting push aims to 'stop Trump', not about 'fairness'
Rep. Donald Beyer said Democrats must make the case the Virginia map overhaul is 'totally fair for America' to 'take back the House.'

quote:
A top Virginia Democrat appeared to admit that state Democratic lawmakers’ effort to redraw the commonwealth’s congressional map is more about stopping President Donald Trump and his agenda than about ensuring fairness for voters in the Old Dominion.

A referendum drafted by Richmond’s Democratic majority and set to go before voters in April would allow the assembly to redraw Virginia’s congressional map in a way that Richmond Democrats signaled would draw out four of five Republican congressmen and draw the populations of most new districts from dense, left-wing Fairfax County.

In comments to NBC News, Rep. Donald Beyer, an Alexandria-Fairfax Democrat, appeared to admit redistricting’s true purpose while commenting on early voting figures that appeared to lean in the GOP’s favor.

Beyer said the redistricting effort is "not a done deal by any means" and that Democrats need to "effectively make the case that even though this seems unfair in Virginia, it’s totally fair for America, for those of us who believe that taking back the House is the most significant thing we can do to stop Donald Trump."

At FoxNews today:

ICE pressures Spanberger as Fairfax murder suspects trigger new detainers in ‘sanctuary’ clash

quote:
Virginia Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger and local authorities in deep blue Northern Virginia are facing mounting hold requests from ICE after two more illegal immigrants were arrested for murder in Fairfax County this week.

This week, ICE lodged two detainers — requests to hold — for illegal immigrants charged with murder in Fairfax County. One detainer was lodged against 28-year-old Guatemalan national Misael Lopez Gomez, who is charged with second-degree murder and felony child abuse after allegedly beating his 3-month-old daughter to death. The agency lodged another detainer for a Guatemalan national, Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, following his arrest by local authorities for second-degree murder in a machete stabbing.

The Department of Homeland Security has personally appealed to Spanberger and "Fairfax County sanctuary politicians" to not release Chavarria Muy.

Misael Lopez Gomez – Infant murder
Two ICE sources told Fox News that Misael Lopez Gomez, who was recently arrested for allegedly beating his 3-month-old daughter to death in Fairfax County, is a Guatemalan illegal alien. The sources said Lopez Gomez is believed to have entered the U.S. as a got-away during the Biden administration in July 2023.

Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy – Machete Stabbing
On Tuesday, ICE lodged a detainer request for Fairfax County to not release Chavarria Muy following his arrest in connection with a fatal stabbing on Sunday. DHS said that the killing was carried out using a machete.

If ICE suspects these people might be released without their detainer being honored - why don't they just stake out the holding facility and grab these scumbags when they are released? I don't understand how these violent criminals simply disappear from jails/prisons back into the civilian populace without FED's being able to track them. (the most violent one's - they obviously cannot track every non-violent criminal)

New poll reveals Spanberger's popularity is plummeting amid backlash over gerrymandering

Virginia's Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger was swept into the governor's mansion on a deep blue wave last November, but has seen her popularity plummet after less than 3 months in office.

quote:
Forty-six percent of Virginians disapprove of her job performance, while 47% approve. Compared to Virginia governors from both sides of the aisle since 1994, Spanberger has the highest disapproval rating at this point in her term.

Way to go, Queen Abigail! Underwater, less than three months into your term. May your approval rating continue to plummet, and your political career end soon in stinky ashes.

quote:
Seven percent of Virginians, however, by contrast, cite her tenure as "too conservative."

Those people must have been straight outta the loony-bin. Roll Eyes
