We had strong storms with heavy rain and large hail overnight transitioning to ice and snow this morning. Temps in the teens with wind chill around zero. Roads are a mess with ice. Lots of accidents.

And the 60+ MPH winds overnight brought down a number of trees and power lines.

Temps will continue to get even colder, with subzero lows and double digit negative wind chills for the next several days straight. Highs aren't going to get above freezing until Wednesday, and then only barely. Plus another stronger batch of snow coming Sunday afternoon and overnight into Monday, expecting 4-8" more.

So schools are closed today, and likely will be until about Thursday next week. Roads will suck for the next 5ish days.

Most of our ice and snow typically occurs in February and March, so this is just the beginning of winter weather season.

Winter Storm Finn finned out pretty quick in MQT with a whopping 2 inches or so. But, 12 inches forecasted for the next 36 hours or so. High winds too. Time will tell!

My village, east of Tinytown a couple hours, posted this afternoon that they had two snowplows stuck in the snow. Go figure!

Between wind chill and potential whiteout conditions, it is hazardous to go out unless some kind of emergency. Stay inside and warm (and hope your power doesn't go off).

We got about 3 inches of slush here yesterday. By some miracle we didn't have a single wreck in town (I did basically ski my way to a CPR call, though). Last night after I got home I plowed the driveway in the dark. My wife told me it was only 3" of slush and it could wait, but I told her that a.) I'm not going to be off work in the daylight till Monday and b.) This crap is going to freeze overnight and then I'll never get rid of it. Sometimes I hate being right.

Just finished my pre-work morning run. It's still not that cold...maybe mid 20's, but all that slush on the roads is frozen solid. The wind is crazy, probably 30-40mph, and it's snowing again. I was questioning the wisdom of running this morning anyway, but when I got out of the woods I to the open fields and got the full brunt of it, I really began to second-guess my decision making. It suddenly occured to me that if I fell and knocked myself out, or got clobbered by a falling limb, nobody was going to find me until I was a popsicle. I got 'er done, though. Now we'll have to see if our local motoring public can keep the good streak going two days in a row.

Shoot, from what some of you guys are dealing with we're in a heat wave. 7 degrees this AM with a gusty wind out there. The roads are pretty clear however but that might change tomorrow as they are predicting snow. I ain't going nowhere.

We are expecting the worst of the storm today in Western Michigan. We got a lot of heavy, wet snow yesterday. Forecast says another foot of snow and high winds today.

My generator is staged and ready to go!

We got about 12 inches yesterday, that's on top of the 10" or so we got Tuesday. None of it has melted, it's now blowing around with 25+ mph winds. Oh yeah, it's 10 outside. That's air temp, not adjusted for wind chill.

The high Sunday will be zero (zip, nada, zilch), in the next week we'll make it up to a sizzling 15 each day. Again, air temp.

Unlike 92fstech, I'll skip jogging for a few days. I used to be that, er...committed, but at age 73 I'm smarter than I used to be.
