I saw a really interesting interview with Senator Tim Scott of SC (a black man and a Republican). He said one of the biggest problems he had as a youth trying to better himself in school and in general were people in his own culture trying to drag him down, being critical of his efforts to succeed. Is it that some would rather languish in victimhood than try to achieve what David Webb and Senator Scott have?

This isn't just true with the black community. I once worked a summer at the hospital on the Crow Reservation in MT. One day I got to talking with one of the social workers there (a Crow). He'd gone to school and earned a Masters degree prior to returning home to try to help.

He told me that it took him years to be accepted back into the community...his community. They felt that he felt that he was somehow now better than them and thus essentially shunned him.

He described reservation life to me as a bucket-full of crabs. Whenever one tries to climb out and get away, the others grab him and pull him back down.

I got a really good laugh out of this after listening to the video. Idiotass, racist bitch. Seen this many times. Lost a few voiceover gigs years ago for similar reasons.

Not all "Black" people sound "Black". I know a cultured Black lady who would never be thought Black just from the sound of her voice. David Webb is one who does not sound Black.
