I still don't know why they don't adopt my idea.

Democrats hate guns. Democrats, according to recent election results, make up roughly half of our population. Why don't they start by passing a law banning Democrats from owning guns?

That would get us half way there, right?

Sooo, lets get this straight - They want to implement a 'review' of 3 years of Social Media AND Internet Search History by some new 'Pre-Crime Thought Police Unit' in New Yorkistan, for EVERY Gun Purchase....And the Massholes want to follow suit! Roll Eyes

Seems to me they're overlooked this pesky little thing otherwise known as the First Amendment to the Constitution, and well, you know, Free Speech! WOW, Wizards of Smart they are....Apparently there are NO LIMITS to what these GDC's will dream up in their effort to subvert the Second Amendment! Mad

3 years of online posts and a year of search history for every gun purchase?

First, it would never survive a legal challenge.

But mainly, think of the burden of executing something like this for every gun purchase. It would not be cost effective, at all.

The point isn't to be effective in keeping crazy people from owning guns, it's to delay / prevent ANYONE from easily obtaining a firearm.

This makes perfect sense.

Search Social Media with Google, since that always returns perfect results.
Everything returned from the search is 100% factual, since everything on the internet is 100% factual and true.
Everything returned from the search is guaranteed to be posted by the individual that is applying since well, they used their real name on Social Media.
Everyone will divulge every avatar and name they used on any social media site.
Define Social Media.

Yeah, this is a perfect solution. What could go wrong.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

That's not a bug, it's a feature.

Besides, only those who are politically reliable should have access to arms, tovarisch.

Butt think of the number of new employees the unions would have paying dues the state would need to hire and thereby justifying the new "hand gun surcharge" which in turn, would decrease the number of dangerous mass killing weapons legally purchased.

The handgun permit process here in my county in NY is cruising along at 8-10 months for approval so it only makes sense to slow it back down. Until recently it took around 15 months in my county to get your initial pistol permit approval.

People from free states may not know you need a permit just to OWN a handgun, even in your home.

For me, it depends on what they define as "social media". I don't have Facebook, I don't have it's predecessor MySpace, I don't have LinkedIn. I don't have pinterest. I don't have reddit. I don't have twitter. I don't belong to dating sights.

I belong to SigForum.

What does a "social media check" consist of?
