The irony of this post is truly amazing.

I think we all know what "social media" really means; SF does not apply IMO because it's anonymous... and I'm under no obligation to disclose shit voluntarily.

You aren’t under any obligation to disclose shit on any social media platform. Facebook doesn’t make you post pictures of your breakfast or even to use your real name. People choose to disclose personal info on Facebook just like sometimes people choose to on this forum.

That’s not to say SigForum and Facebook are the same. They aren’t even close. But on both platforms how much you share is up to you.

I belong to SigForum.

What does a "social media check" consist of?

I was wondering the same thing...

We left newyorkistan 33+ years ago. Never missed it, never looked back.

I cannot think of a situation in which I/we would even consider going to newyorkistan. About the same for me as going to kalifornistan or shitcago.

It's not wholly anonymous, and what seperates a place like this from Facebook certainly but plenty of other social media, is that community and reputation mean something.

Technically, a message board is social media, just an older format.

I suppose, but my affiliation here would be difficult to source compared to Farcebook or similar where I had to input at least some form of personal information to be tracked. And I wholeheartedly agree with the part about community and reputation- although the leftists might brand us all as "unreliable" and "incompetent".

You can more easily cover your tracks on Facebook than you can here. I've created and used Facebook accounts for LE work, using completely fictitious info, and I did NOT use any tricks that are not available to the general public. It is much easier to do that on Facebook, than it is here, because free email services cannot be used to start an account here.

While this forum might not be as well known to the general public, as Facebook, Instagram, Redditt, etc, it is social media, and you use it.

I will start with I’m sorry for the RANT!
NewYohkistan Governor Cuomo will continue our states decline to Communism. This is what the rest of the country should be worried about. The bafoons of NYC voted him in and the rest of the state will suffer. We gun owners in NY will no longer have our First Amendment rights.
Please be aware what that what is happening in NY, can happen throughout our nation.

I left Upstate NY 40 years ago and am living in a area that votes 83% republican. Not a day goes by that I don't hear a gun shot while I'm outside. I feel bad for my family and friends who are still there fighting the Commie tide.
