Or maybe the ceramic or marble stones.

Comments appreciated.

Tried, didn't like at all. Too clunky in nice glasses, and feel like I'm going to knock my teeth out (irrationally, of course). As an alternative have a stone small vessel, similar to a vase (eta - think this is soapstone as well), that stays in the freezer. Pour liquor in that for a minute before serving and it's nicely chilled, no dilution.

I have a couple of soapstone whiskey cubes. I ended up going back to ice (when I actually use ice). I just didn't care for the non-ice cubes. They don't work near as well, the soapstone actually altered the taste for me, and I realized on those occasions where I want my whiskey chilled I actually enjoy the slight dilution as well as it brings out a nice flavor that non-ice cubes never can.

So yeah, I just went back to straight old ice balls and giant ice cubes.

I tried them but did not care for them. They don’t stay cold very long. You would be better off getting the big goofball size ice cube molds

I have the rocks, keep them in the freezer until needed then drop in the drink, it does cool it down some and of course no dilution of the whiskey is one of the calling cards.

If you like your drink a bit cooler as happens with Ice then you might be disappointed in the amount of temp drop from them as compared to having the drink iced down.

If you prefer just a cube of ice or splash of branch water in the whisky then they should ok, I wasn't impressed.

Another issue is if you want more than one drink and you have just one or two cubes, once they warm up then it's back in the freezer to cool, so you might want a couple of sets of them if you like to have more than one drink....

As Balze stated, I prefer a few cubes of ice to help open up the whiskeys flavor.

I tried some stainless ones, back when I was still abusing good whiskey by pouring it over ice. Didn't care for 'em.

Eventually I just learned to drink my whisky neat, as God intended Smile

I use one cube and then cover it plus a little more. I did see a neat alternative that uses a suction cup to secure the steel chiller to the cup. Not wild about the idea of rubber/plastic in my tumbler affecting the taste.. But the Scoth Ness Monster looks fun.

I bought ceramic discs at Four Roses.

They are ok, not great, IMO.

About a year ago, I began making my own clear ice, including clear ice balls.

I particularly like the ice with the hotter pours, as it dilutes it to some degree.

Just my opinion.

IMO, whiskey benefits from a little water dilution. Hence, ice only with me.

Try freezing some grapes? We use them to ice sangria, without watering it down.

Nope for me. I don’t generally want or need my whisky chilled. If I want to water it down I add water.

That sounds like a good idea, or maybe frozen cherries.

I may try it but even though I know one is not supposed to... Since I broke my Sig Sauer coffee mug I've been using a double layered stainless steel camping cup for my morning coffee and I can taste the stainless steel... maybe it's just me since I've been cutting and messing with various stainless steels for the last 40 years...

If you want to chill you drink, just store the bottle in the fridge.

I prefer a cube or two of ice over the chilling stones. The melting ice water opens up the flavor profile a bit.

I have some that are 5.7X28mm. They are cool, but I don't care for them much, too clunky in the glass, and the sharp points sometimes get ya.

Maybe in a different format I would like them batter.

They do work at keeping the drank cppl and not watered down.
