Do No Harm, Do Know Harm |
And people get grouchy when they see officers with their hand resting on their gun. Excellent reflexes. Amazing, actually. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard. -JALLEN "All I need is a WAR ON DRUGS reference and I got myself a police thread BINGO." -jljones

Not any sort of expert but I was really impressed as well with how the officer reacted to the second individual who came running towards the officer. Silent

I think that is a very old video, I remember seeing that a while back.

Who cares. It makes an important point regarding great training and quick reactions. His reaction towards the second guy was amazing in my opinion. Jim ________________________ "If you can't be a good example, then you'll have to be a horrible warning" -Catherine Aird

Itchy was taken |
That second guy threw something before the hands up. First time I have seen this vid. That officer had excellent training and reaction. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

What is the actual source of this film? Who was filming the event? Nobody appreciates, respects and admires law enforcement people more than I do but is it possible this is actually a training film?

Why didn't he shoot him in the leg or fire a warning shot in the air? /sarc You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

You missed the point so I’ll elaborate. I’m pretty sure this was posted before, way back when, but I’m not going to dig for it. I got the point the first time I watched the video.

Team Apathy |
That wasn’t a pure reaction, in my opinion. He was expecting something, he just didn’t know what it was. That’s a big mental leap to have already made. Good on him. He paid attention to that little voice that said “something is wrong here”.

I'd have to say, no way.
Well sure. The suspect was right in front of him and he saw his hands in his pockets after all. But look how relaxed (relatively) the officer is prior to going full throttle. He was as cool as a cucumber. I agree, the LEO was very relaxed but quick, much like Raylan. If you watch his legs, he is just ambling along. Lots of training showing there, that may have saved his life. The perp is dead, Jim, he's dead. Not a training film. -c1steve

That’s like the scene in the alley from Collateral when Tom Cruise swept the gun out of the way before engaging with his own. That’s some damn good training there. No thinking needed, he regressed to his training. _____________

Just for the hell of it |
The guy that comes out at the end may need to check his pants. Great reaction. First shot was one-handed as he moved the bad guy's gun away from his body. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Scrolling down on the comments below the video it says this film is from the dash cam of the officer's patrol car so obviously it is the real deal not a training film.

Unfortunately, the perp survived and only got a 10 yr sentence for this. Very sad outcome.

I have no idea, personally, but the reality is that shot placement is vital to incapacitation and the American emergency medical system is well equipped for this sort of thing. The officer got a "stop" in a limited number of rounds fired from retention to extension with one hand. We'll call it a win.
