J think that a law called ITAR would get you put in jail.

DON'T - unless you want to go to jail for violating ITAR.

You need an export license from the federal government and that's not exactly something you can do without a good lawyer. And it's not going to be approved anyway because they are not going to let civilians provide military aid.

I don't think they use AK47s there. Probably AK74 in 5.45

Yeah they do, and it can be done. A company out of AZ just sent a million rounds of 7.62. Some legal/shipping hurdles though.

It can be done, but you have to be a licensed exporter.

I just read a company in Arizona is sending 1,000,000 rounds over.
Their name is AMMO, Inc. Contact them to see if they can help you.

I’m not the only one that thinks this is a 100% ignorant idea?

It strikes me as going “full retard”.

When we send care packages and what not to troops, we don’t throw a bandolier in there!

I’m not trying to insult anyone but it feels like we skipped 1733 steps in between assisting and showing support and sending ammo to troops.

Might as well throw those 10K rounds in a dumpster. They will have about the same chance of making it into the fight. If you really want to help, make a cash donation to one of the legit companies sending ammo. Remington, Federal, and AMMO.com are all saying they are doing it.

Unless the fed.gov gives expedited ITAR permit(s), and the donor flies the ammo there or buys European manufacture, that ammo won’t get there fast enough to make a difference.

It’s virtue signaling in a way that means the donation won’t actually cost the signaler anything.

Donate cash, NOT ammo!

You might need that ammo here someday...And if/when you do, trust me, nobody will be donating ammo to you!

Note also 1M rounds isn’t jack.

That’s 1,000 rounds for each of 1,000 soldiers or citizens.

At FA rates of fire, about 90 seconds of continuous fire; put another way it’s about 30 minutes of combat.

You also have the question of what chambering. 7.62x54R, 7.62x51, 7.62x39, 5.56x45, or 5.45x39?

If we wanted to make real ammo difference, it needs to be 1,000,000,000 rounds o whatever is the most common shoulder arm.

Donate nothing - it is highly unlikely to ever find its way to the intended recipient(s).

Ukraine was a corrupt, financial cesspool before this conflict started - there's no reason to think anything has changed in the past 2-weeks.

Be sure and put a thank you note in there for their president that started the Trump - Russia collusion garbage that was completely false so Hillary and Joe could be President. Is his hero Justin Trudeau sending ammo too or does he hate freedom for his own people and other nations too?

I wouldn't go on record supporting ammo shipments to the Ukraine fighters. If you can get your bank account locked for sending $50 to a trucker protest, what more could happen for sending 500 rounds for a war that isn't being fought for the reasons you think it is?

Im not happy to hear those ammo companies are donating when it really is a few days consumption in a major war. And it will likely get there long after the treaties are signed. They aren't going to ship it air. Only pallets of cash get that treatment. Ohter SME's can likely give a better estimate, but I'm thinking 6-8 weeks on board ship before it even docks - or is allowed to. It might arrive just in time for a Russian cargomaster to redirect. Wars change things quickly.

Look who is supporting Ukraine, how it got into this position, and why. Then ask, who is sending more ammo, promising NATO help, and working to get cash into the country? Same people who imposed mandates, have sons on Ukraine energy brokerages, stopped the XL pipeline and buy Russian fuel to sell it here. It's not cheaper either.

There is a major manipulation going it that is larger than "I can't breathe" and it seems uninformed "patriots" have been suckered into it big time.

Be that as it may, sending anything other than cash thru a responsible handler - who all take their administrative cut - will only result in an investigation. Don't go there. There is plenty of ammo in Ukraine - just like in Vietnam, all you have to do is go take it away from the people using the same ammo against you.

See the real problem?

Out of three war stories on the Ukraine, four are fake news. There is more hype about this war than actual fighting.

Nowhere in Ammo.com's press release is the caliber specified, and I haven't seen anything that identifies it as being 7.62x39 ammo.

While Ukraine does utilize some 7.62x39 rifles, including both older AKMs as well as the newer WAC-47 AR15, they also use some 5.56 AR-15s, as well as a large number of 5.45 rifles like the AK-74 and a Tavor clone known as the Fort 221.

Despite their recent attempts to modernize, the AK-74 in 5.45x39 is still the most common military rifle in Ukraine currently. Similarly, their standard issue LMG is still the RPK-74 in 5.45×39. So 5.45x39 would make the most sense for that company to be donating.
