I have been blessed enough to own several of the old Sport models, Mastershop guns as well as the SSE's and a few nickels, etc...

My question is, what are everyone's thoughts on the new stuff? The new Legions and 226's like the X-Fives coming out now. I have a couple of them too and the quality, accuracy and fit and finish are top notch in my opinion.

Are we just partial to the old W German Sigs and call them the best because of their bloodline? OR Are they really better than the new stuff?

I fear they benefit from the same phenomenon as muscle cars from the past. Carbs and dual point distributers are terrible as are flat tappet cams. They are beautiful to look at to hold and run.

The new generation of competitive shooters have risen to the capabilities of the equipment. I don’t think the old shooters were less capable, but doing the best they could with what they had to work with.

Is that a hot take?

Tis an interesting question. I chose to look at it with "data." What does Max Michel shoot? Without judging which technology is better, I know that the "new" P320 MAX will certainly shoot mechanically as good as I need. So, I bought one.

EXACTLY! but...I also appreciate the craftsmanship and pride that was displayed in the creation and assembly of the older models. The hand fitting of parts and the entire process in which they were made from A-Z separated Sig from lots of other manufacturers. The older folded slide W German series are still smooth as butter and just feel "right" in your hand.
