Discover Blocks Credit Card Donations To Christian Site Collecting For Alleged Teen Shooter Kyle Rittenhouse I just called and let them know my feelings on companies that decide to side with the extreme left. 1-800-347-3085 “We’re in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for our administration…President Obama’s administration before this. Well, when you say "cut up the card" I assume you mean you'll no longer use it. If you cease using it, the only wise thing to do is to close the account. If you close the account, you reduce the amount of credit available to you. This value is a factor in determining your credit score. If you suddenly have, say, 10K less credit available to you, your credit score will go down, and will go down by more than just a bit and it will go down within a month. If you want to stymie Discover, keep the account open. Use the card to make purchases of less than a dollar two or three times a year. Then, pay the boll online so it doesn't even cost you the price of a stamp. Discover will have to process these worthless-to-them transaction. That's as close as you can get to hurting Discover without hurting yourself. If you don't want to do business with Discover and don't want to hurt your credit score, you will need to open another CC account- Visa or MasterCard- for the same or greater amount of credit Discover is providing you and do it at the same time you close your Discover account. You never know. You just might need that account some day. If you have a Discover card, my opinion is you should keep it. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

^^^^^ ![]() Thanks for the advice. These Social Justice Companies are pissing me off. They need to stay in their swim lane. “We’re in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for our administration…President Obama’s administration before this. Oh damn it! Discover has been my card since 1989. Previously I had closed my Costco Citibank Visa at a loss of $34 in Costco cashback.. now this! Any confirmation if this is purely political driven?

I swear I had something for this |
I use my Discover for Balance Transfers. Transfer a small amount of debt to it, take advantage of 0% interest, and pay it off early for minimum cost.

Well, call them up and give them an earful. Ask to speak with a manager and ask for the address of their corporate offices and write a letter, stating your feelings.

^^^^ What Para said. Kind of like sending those RNC prepaid envelopes back with a penny in them. Don’t screw your own credit just to make a point. Use THEM!

Well, I'm going to pay it off and use it to get my $0.79 drink every night at the gas station during work and pay it off the next morning. 5 days a week. Screw Discover! It's actually my highest limit card! Not minority enough!

Great. My favorite card. However, I plan to never carry a balance. Maybe I’ll just use it for the 5% cash back stuff...

Ol' Jack always says... what the hell. |
It's my highest limit card currently. I think maybe I'll use it to buy ammo and gun parts from now on.

Companies need to learn not to get involved in politics. This might cost Discover a great deal. _________________________

If I live to be one hundred I'll never grasp why these people do this. Sending the kid a donation for his legal defense is not illegal on any level, so why wade into this issue at all? Just a huge unforced error, and stupid on a number of levels. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. Company executives of varying sizes have boxed themselves into a corner by constantly appeasing to the zeitgeist of the moment. Current media, marketing and celebrities, along with half the political spectrum have sided with lawlessness, anarchy and double-standards in an misguided effort to 'balance the scales'. These executives who authorize this actions are either complicit in their support or, they're willfully ignorant and doing what they've always done, blow-in-the-wind, adhering to their underlings who whisper in their ears.

About three months ago, I got a statement from Discover out of the blue. I've had a zero balance since late 2018. The statement indicated an 84.00 credit. Discover had cashed in my points for me. It seemed to me this was a prod to get me to use the card. A couple of times in years past, I had cashed in points by calling up Discover and having them convert those points to cash and deposit it in my checking account. Each time I had done this, it took one phone call. The money appeared in my checking account perhaps two days later. Easy. This time, when I called Discover to make the request, I had to be transferred to a different department, security or something like that. I confirmed all my information and they said they would process the transfer within seven days. A week later, I got a letter from Discover "Please call us regarding a matter with your account." I called them. They wanted to confirm I was requesting a transfer. Yes, I said. OK we'll process this and the transfer should be complete within seven days. A week goes by. I get a phone call from Discover, wanting to confirm my confirmation. Jesus. YES, I am requesting this transfer. OK we'll process this and the transfer should be complete within seven days, they said. Guess what? Yep. One week later. Letter. Please call us regarding yadda yadda. I called them and this time, I went straight to a manager. I asked them what has happened to Discover. I asked them, why covert my points and give me a credit on my Discover card when I did not request it, then give me a runaround when I've requested a transfer as I've done in the past, calling me, mailing me, when I didn't request the conversion of the points in the first place, and all this over less than a hundred bucks. I pointed out that I've been a customer of theirs since the early 1990s and up until this silly mess, I had never had any sort of issue with Discover. Apologies, apologies, yadda yadda, we'll process this and the transfer should be complete within seven days. I tod the manager that Discover should never again call me, for any reason. OK, he says, but you know, fraud and stuff. I told him do not call me again, ever, then, I made a purchase on the card- three dollars and change (to keep them from closing the account due to inactivity, since I hadn't used it in a year and a half), registered for the online app, and locked the account using the app. Ten days later, eighty bucks and change showed up in my checking account. Two letters, multiple phone calls and 24 days to get this tiny bit of cash from them- cash I did not request in the first place. So, yes, Discover is not what it used to be.
