Same here. All of my spending is on my Discover card. I pay it off every month and never pay interest. It's more convenient than paying in cash or writing checks.

After reading Para's post... I may have to re-think this. At least I will keep an eye on Discover.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Thanks for the heads up. Been our primary card since 1998. I just called and expressed my displeasure. I know it won't likely change anything but staying silent sure won't either.
Very tired of this type of PC BS.

I've had a Discovery card for years and I can say I've only used it once or twice to rent a vehicle because the included insurance was better or something. Of course I paid it off immediately so they've never made much off me...most likely lost money.

The sad part is if we boycotted all the companies that do something similar or openly supported Marxist BLM, we wouldn't own Apple, shop at Amazon, fly airlines, watch sports, etc, etc. I can't blame and only applaud anybody that does boycott them. in my case I try to give them as little of my money as possible. The money saved goes toward my mortgage or more ammo.

Company executives of varying sizes have boxed themselves into a corner by constantly appeasing to the zeitgeist of the moment. Current media, marketing and celebrities, along with half the political spectrum have sided with lawlessness, anarchy and double-standards in an misguided effort to 'balance the scales'. These executives who authorize this actions are either complicit in their support or, they're willfully ignorant and doing what they've always done, blow-in-the-wind, adhering to their underlings who whisper in their ears.
But that's kinda my point. The exec's at Discover at not uneducated people. Why does it never occur to them to simply come out (if need be) and state, "Discover card is a service provider available to everyone. We do not take sides or participate in political issues. The 'only' issues Discover Card involves itself in are those involving illegality which are immediately acted upon to insure the security of our customers. Have a nice day".

Again, I just don't grasp why as a business executive, you'd opt to shoot yourself in the leg with half or more of your customers. But I guess that's where we are today as a society.

I quit using my Discover Card back in Jan when I got a Apple card, but have not closed the account. It appears to still be active, and I'm surprised they haven't closed the account. Maybe because I've got $.60 cash back sitting in the account.

An interesting way of circumventing their stupidity, I just contributed to Kyle's fund via Paypal, and billed it to my Discover card. Wink

Make sure you make them mail you a statement every month. Then pay it on-line. Never maintain a balance. Take advantage of every promotion they offer.

In 1992 I started a business and arranged to take credit card through my local bank. Visa and Master Card were no problem, Discover would no approve me and I was given a number to call/ The person I spoke with told me I had to PROVE I was a legitimate business and that I was not setting it up to rip people off. I told them to check with my bank and was told that was not good enough for Discover.
I had a Discover card with $20,000 line of credit and used it often. I called and canceled it and advise if I was not good enough to accept Discover I was not going to use their card for purchases.
3 years later I got a call from Discover after they had a complaint from a customer that I would not accept their card and Discover wanted me to use their card. Discover had a rep that called on my bank and found out how much business I was doing and wanted me to take Discover at a
higher rate than Visa or MC. I was extremely rude on purpose and the person did not like what I told them they could do with their card.
I would get a call every couple of years and always to them the same thing.

I HATE DISCOVER !!!

Bigdeal, this is exactly the point I made when I called them today. Stay the hell out of politics. Why do they insist on pissing off a very significant percentage of their customer base.

Hmmmm,

My wife and I get about three “You’ve been pre-approved!” offers a month from Discover in the mail. And I mean individually, so 6 times a month they pay postage begging us to be customers. I tear them up and toss them, we have all the credit we need and don’t carry any balances.

They don’t offer anything we don’t already have in ways of rewards, points, or miles. Maybe next one I will take them up on their offer, spend $1 a month on gum and opt for paper statements and online payments.

Hoping to retire in a few years, will need some hobbies to help fill the time.

I had a Discover card for decades. I closed the account last month when they pledged to give 5 million to black owned businesses. I blasted the CEO as well as a few board members in an email, in short I informed them equality will never be achieved with special treatment. I told them at best this is a shameless publicity stunt, at worse you don't believe African Americans are as capable of running their businesses as other ethnicities. I received a form letter in the mail explaining the importance of equality. Had I not told them to pound sand last month I would be now. Losers.

Discover had been our primary card. I like its cash back payout, but not enough to abide this leftist crap.

I'm switching to another card that has the same cash back percentage. I won't cancel my Discover card, but will use it once a month to buy a senior coffee at McDonald's. It's going to cost Discover more per month to print, mail and process my payment than the cost of that cup of coffee.
