The veterinarian told us he has bone cancer that has spread to his lungs. We were given 3 weeks of pain meds and could come back for a refill IF we needed. There goes Christmas. Wife and kids are devastated. This came out of nowhere.

Picture is of him resting today with a Miss BB61 who just got home from from work.

We had a 10 year old lab years ago, boarded her to go on a trip. It was a vet with boarding, asked them to investigate a limp she recently developed. They called soon after, bone cancer.

Not long after our dog went to 3 legs, made it another 9 months. During that 9 months her quality of life was diminished a fair bit. She struggled to get around & use the facilities.

Thanks everyone.

We discussed the option sourdough mentioned. However, our vet advised against it. I appreciated her honesty as surgery and chemo would have been roughly 5k. Rather than take our money that would benefit her, she gave us the best advice for us.

My last Golden came up limpy one day after playing catch for awhile. Zero symptoms up until that point. Diagnosed the following day and gone two weeks later. I was shocked at how rapidly he declined (clearly he had it going on well before it was discovered), but I'm glad he didn't suffer long. He was the best dog I've ever had and still miss him 5 years later. My vet loved him too. He was crying more than I was the day we put him down.

Best of luck to you. It's never a fun thing to go through.

I am so sorry. If they can make your pup comfortable, that’s the best Christmas gift you can give. So many treats and special meals, rides, and gentle playing still to be had. Your pic broke my heart.

This was our thing. I'd sit in my chair and read and he would come sit by me and keep me company and get belly rubs too of course.

He's a great looking dog. I know how devastating it is to get news like that having gone through a similar situation 5 years ago.

I'm sorry you and your family are going through this, especially near the holidays.
