We will see what type of fallout if any happens about Mr. Bennett's arrest in LAS on August 27th.
Interesting to hear both sides of the story. Neither of the officers that were a part of Mr. Bennett's arrest were white. He is still claiming racial profiling.
Stay tuned.

He is full of it.
In a more full description. It was shown that he did not start running until the police began to approach him to which he began to jump traffic barricades and then run into traffic. And not just running in a crowd like he claims.

This whole bit of wanting to be a victim and crying wolf is getting awfully old.

I would like to hear why he SPECIFICALLY was handcuffed. ie - other than hiding and running - which is a reasonable, natural inclination - what was their reason for holding him at gunpoint and handcuffing him? For instance - did he match the description of a shooter?

Yes I read all the collateral.

But lots of people were running away. That goes without saying if shooting is taking place.

Interesting thing about Las Vegas is there are hi def cameras everywhere. More video will come out I'm sure.

Bennett told reporters Wednesday that during the incident he was thinking about his wife and three daughters "and how much they mean to me."

Right, so why were you hanging out in a bar at 3:30 am? Good family man.

This whole bit of wanting to be a victim and crying wolf is getting awfully old.

This.

Michael Bennett's statement, in part:

quote:
The Officers ignored my pleas and instead told me to shut up and then took me to the back of a nearby police car where sat for what felt like an eternity until they apparently realized was not a thug, common criminal or ordinary black man but Michael Bennett a famous professional football player.

After confirming my identity, I was ultimately released without any legitimate justification for the Officers’ abusive conduct.

I have always held a strong conviction that protesting or standing up for justice is just simply, the right thing to do.

This fact is unequivocally, without question why before every game, sit during the national anthem–because equality doesn’t live in this country and no matter how much money you make, what job title you have, or how much you give, when you are seen as a “Nigger,” you will be treated that way.

The system failed me. I can only imagine what Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, and Charleena Lyles felt.

It just rubs me the wrong way.
They let you go because you're not an "ordinary black man but Michael Bennett a famous professional football player." ???

Ya, sure. Nope. You were detained because of your own actions:

TMZ Sports reports:

Sources connected to the investigation tell TMZ Sports ... when cops responded to the club for a possible shooting, they ordered everyone to get down and not move so they could properly search and investigate.

We're told Bennett did not stay put -- instead, he ran -- and a cop outside the club stopped him and ordered him down to the ground at gunpoint.

Our sources say Bennett was detained until cops could determine he was not involved in any possible criminal activity ... and he was released.

Systemic racism and institutional racism.

These poor, poor Hispanic officers can't help being racist because like the force it flows through everything. Oh yeah also because George Washington had slaves.

Or possibly because he ran from the cops into traffic.

The issue IMO is that people now expect to never be questioned by police if they are innocent...regardless of the surrounding circumstances.

I heard a black guy on Fox Sports the other day saying he was pulled over by a cop and asked "where are you coming from at this time of night?"

He claims he was only asked that because he was black.

Hell, it doesn't get much whiter than me and I've been asked that!

That's why I'm fed up with this Kapernick BS. Every little thing is "because I'm black" and not a realistic look at the circumstances. It's the boy who cried wolf and it only serves to deafen us to real issues of racism.

I'm completely numb to any allegation of racism by police at this point. This is one more example; if they were indeed responding to an active shooter and you start running away...WTF man, a normal person could think you're guilty!

I think it's hilarious that the cops were Hispanic by the way...of course Bennett doesn't want to mention that.

That's what I was thinking. You'd probably want to secure that potential threat until you find out what's going on.

What a farce this whole thug life.

Mr. Bennett does not stand during the National Anthem either at games in "protest". Now he'll be "protesting" until he retires. We'll see how many more of his NFL brothers and some of his fans sit after this incident.

Well, to be fair I hang out at bars late at night and I still love my family. It is possible to love your family and be a good family man and still go out once in a while.

The Bennett brothers are both racist pieces of shit. I am a fan of football and not every player is a felon as some like to suggest, but like any work place they have their fair share of assholes and the Bennetts are a pair of them. They are not stupid and seem to consider themselves a sort of philosophers. The media treats them special and they buy into the hype I think.

I can't believe the teams aren't doing something about this. I'm sorry but many young kids look up to these players in hopes to be a professional player some day and this is an awful representation of how to act. You are an employee of a company and I can't believe these companies don't start firing these idiots for disrespecting our national anthem. If you hate our country SO much that you can't stand for our national anthem you should move somewhere else, but you can't because thanks to our great nation you make millions to play a sport...

I doubt he cares. He has his millions and the NFL isn't going anywhere soon enough to affect him at all.

The only person that might care is Kapernick since he can't get a job. He is finding out quickly that he isn't a good enough player to be worth the baggage. Although I think he might have already knew that and this whole thing was a cover for him. This way instead of admitting that he is a half rate QB he can blame it on racism.

Yep. All black guys are victims of white police repression. And all white cops are suspects. These were Hispanic cops but Hispanic is the new white??

I wish we could get a law enforcement boss who would take time to explain why officers might be carrying their weapons when going to a shooting call. I wish they would take the time to explain suspect ID and how poor the information we have as relayed by dispatch. I wish they would explain why running from the scene and hurdling barricades(running like you stole it) might be a bit more suspicious. Explain how and why officers can detain people during investigations.
