Im not a connoisseur so I don't have a favorite brand. But I have given a few gifts of jerky subscriptions from Jerky Gent that have been well received. They send an assortment of jerkies (jerkys?) from different brands each month. They also have gift boxes with different assortments.

I always enjoyed Jerky Hut's stuff.

I make my own. Its pretty easy too.

Buddy of mine likes the special reserve jerky made by Jack links for bass pro/cabelas.

I drop $50+ on jerky at Woody’s every time I drive to Dallas. It’s good stuff.

For something a bit different you might want to consider Biltong.
It’s an African way of drying meat with some spices etc. and taste quite good.
