I actually don't expect to get many responses to this post but....

Has anyone asked a legitimate question in their history here that couldn't be or wasn't answered by someone a member response?

Yes, it's a philosophical question that strikes at our desire to collect/hoard.

How many/much [guns, ammo, magazines, flashlights, etc] are/is enough?

I can't remember a legitimate question being asked without a proper, legitimate answer being given. With authoritative source.

Nah, that has been answered long ago. No matter how many you have, it is always just one short of not enough. Big Grin

I did a 'Stump the Forum' thread several years ago to see if anyone could come up with a legit question that couldn't be answered. With the breadth of knowledge represented here, I don't think it's possible. We have members from every branch of the military, past and present, doctors, lawyers, physicists, engineers, mechanics, LEO's from every type of agency, firefighters, computer geeks, business owners, mathematicians, insurance specialists, CEO's, nurses, EMT's, the list goes on and on.

It's an amazing resource of people willing to share their knowledge and experience.

The thread I posted still on the first page here is a great example (and probably inspired this post).

No image comparison software or Google searching could come up with the answer as to the origin of an obscure patch found at an estate sale. How oldfireguy knew that it was from a WWI Home defense unit from Cincinnati, OH is beyond me, but I knew someone on here would know what it was!

Never asked a question that wasn't answered and answered promptly and correctly. Especially on automotive, electrical, and plumbing problems. There's usually information overload. Information overload is a good thing.

With the vast resources at your fingertips, if there is a question that could not be answered correctly, it's because human knowledge has not reached that point, yet, imo.

Oops, I take that back. No one could correctly answer this one. Razz

I had one on auto insurance that went unanswered, but appears to be auto-pruned.

Was looking for information on the rate symbol & if it was public accessible, never got any replies.

I've never seen an honest question not get multiple correct answers on this forum. Ever.

I’ve asked a few that were never answered, but most were evidently questions that had no answer. The one exception I recall was about a couple of military ID tags (“dog tags”) I have. Got only a few (incorrect) guesses.

Yes, but whenever that question is asked, the person mysteriously disappears faster than a Clinton enemy.

I have belonged to "intellectual" forums in the past. None of them came close to the intellectual firepower I have witnessed here. This forum is truly amazing in the breadth of knowledge displayed, and the collective ability to apply logic and wisdom to that knowledge.

Not bad for a basket of bitter, gun-clinging deplorables.

I wish I had known that back in grade school, but I’ll keep it in mind now if I’m ever asked about the color of the boathouse at Hereford. Wink
