The whole point of an internet forum is to have knowledge, ideas, experiences, or opinions from a multitude of people from a multitude of locations and a multitude of advice. Let's face reality, it's really hard to diagnose anything machinery-wise/technical unless you're standing in front of the machine and have your hands on it and can test various things. Some people are annoying on forums, some people have out of the box ideas or experiences. Some advice is good, some advice is bad, some advice is in between, some advice is relevant to one situation, some isn't relative to your situation. You basically take from it what you want and leave the rest, just like any free advice. Otherwise, you'd just find an expert and pay them for their advice, service, or work and let them do their job.

Some members have deep convictions on a certain topic and won't hear what others that are in that industry are saying, yet argue with or personally attack someone that does, the Navy accidents in the beginning (before the information) come to mind. In the maritime industry it's been well known that the Navy had serious issues as far as navigation, training and seamanship for 2 decades, but outside of the industry, nothing to indicate that until all of these accidents started happening. On the merchant mariner side, they have continually been increasing training and requirements over the past 2 decades. But nobody wanted to believe it. Yet I took A LOT of flack from several members that dismissed what I said and one or two other members whose profession is in the maritime industry.

I have never blocked anyone but have gotten close. There are a few people, that never interject anything worthwhile in any thread they post in, they just go in there and either leave a totally unrelated joking comment, or find a sentence that can be interpreted in different ways and dogpile on one of their chosen other members to dogpile on. None of that benefits any forum.

I have most likely been blocked by a few members, and there are times that my posts can come across as being abrasive or even out of the box and I am sorry for that and that's never my intention. It is not my intention to annoy any member or give false advice or anything like that. I think everyone has posted at some time on a thread that they haven't fully read, or formulate their post to completely answer all of the outcomes. It happens, and everyone's personalities are different or sometimes it's just people are different in different regions of the country (they way they talk etc).

Can't see a reason to block anyone. Had a few times that I was annoyed by someone and I'm sure I've annoyed others. When someone makes a show out of themselves they get whats due long before that. I get to post some pictures of popcorn on Sunday and then it is off to the cat pictures!

I never blocked, anywhere. I don't want to miss anything, especially a meltdown.
Plus modified threads tend to not make sense sometimes.

I don't block people because if they are and active poster (otherwise why block) then threads become hard to follow if you don't see their posts. Really, I can't think of anything posted what would offend me other than an attack on my family. (never has happened) I actually find controversial posters somewhat entertaining.

I too have not blocked anyone. But mostly because I wouldn't want to miss a royal flame out. Same reason I watch NASCAR.

I don't have anyone blocked on this forum, or any other forum I frequent.

In the past, I used to get into political and/or religious discussions, here and in other forums, but now I just don't see the point. It's like a dog chasing it's tail.

It's a fine line between being highly opinionated, and being intolerant.

There are intolerant people everywhere, and the internet is a great medium for those people. There's been just a handful of people over the years that I've felt the need to ignore. I just scroll by, no need to bother with a list.

Years ago I blocked on e member as I just got completely fed up with their pompous attitude. It wasn’t until afterwards I realized that there were others with the same attitude so I unblocked the person I blocked. Since then I’ve enjoyed their posts more than I originally did.

There are very few here I take issue with now. I still think there’s one or two blowhards who seem to know everything about everything, but to be fair I’m sure there’s some who get sick of my V/STOL & Harrier/flying references.

In short I think this is a excellent forum. It’s really the only place I visit regularly on the internet. I’ve seen a lot in the 17 years I’ve been a member but there’s no place else online I’d rather be.

In my almost 20 years here, I have blocked one guy. And it was recently due to his consistent insistence that we were all going to die of COVID.

I blocked 2 because of the covid thread. It was amazing how much more enjoyable and quickly I could read that thread. Since that thread has slowed down I should unblock them.

I may be irked from time to time, but it is the very rare member who has nothing worthwhile to say. Those that don't usually stick their heads up and get them chopped off fairly quickly.

I've never blocked anyone. Occasionally I'll read a thread and think 'I should just block this user' but I never do. I just make a mental note of who to pay attention to, and who not to.

After awhile I forget anyway.

Don't like the thread, the topic, or what a poster has to say? Just move on. No need to block anything.

No, this is the only forum I frequent, I did have 2000Z-71 blocked for awhile, inadvertently. Of all the people I would block, he would NOT be the one!

I probably reply once for every 30 threads I read. I’ve never blocked anyone. There are a few that really pissed me off, link in my signature.

Aside of that I appreciate the different viewpoints. I do think some of the views posted are completely asinine or insane. Hey, that’s someone else’s viewpoint or opinion. As long as I’m not forced to agree or believe in it, cool beans. We can agree to disagree.

Even where people are just rude and being dicks, it’s not worth blocking them. Someday they may have something worth listening to.

I've never blocked anyone here or any of the other forums I belong to.

All kinds of people post things on an internet forum. Some always seem to have an opinion regardless of whether or not they know what they are talking about. Others make endless posts just agreeing with what someone else said. They add nothing to the discussion. I don't know, maybe their objective is simply to boost their post count thinking that somehow matters.

I use the feature regularly. Since I tend to be friendly to everyone up front and my memory is shit, I block people so I don't have to remember they're not worth adulting with.
