I have 3 boys all play all sorts of sports. Not once have they had a good old fashioned shirts and skins scrimmage. Nor have I seen other teams do it.
They all just wear these nasty ass smelly pennies or kind of group them by shirt color of possible.

Is shirts and skins just not a thing? Aside from balls cold soccer practice nearly every soccer and basketball practice I had growing up consisted of some sort of team scrimmage that was shirts and skins.

We have a small park near the house with a 3 court covered basketball pavilion. See a bit of it over there, but can't really tell if it's shirts v skins, or just some kids not wearing shirts.

My HS gym shirt had blue/orange reversible for that reason and we still did a lot of shirts and skins. I just asked my youngest boy, he said they don’t do shirts and skins nor do they have reversible shirts. He said they just figure it out. Huh. Guess we’re just showing our age.

I didn't like shirts and skins growing up. Especially contact sports like b-ball and soccer. Kinda gross as a shirt touching skin - sweaty and dirty.

I preferred the mesh vests.

I knew a paintball team back in the day that would scrimmage at the end of practice shirts vs. skins.

Being the fat kid in my friend group meant shirts & skinz was the point I started spending my time in the library. I haven't gone outside without a shirt in 30 years. No communal showers for gym either. It was last period and I wore my stink home with me.

However at the house it is all skins. They get home from school rip the uniforms off and just put shorts on, sometimes pants, rarely a shirt.

Shirts and Skins, outdoors, asphalt basketball court, full contact Tackle basketball. No blood, no fun!

My PE instructors were World War Two marines. You can guess what they did. They let all kinds of things go, including fighting and swearing.

We would be Hubbits or Mullets. Of course one of those would be shirts and the other skins.

It sure was in the 60s in Florida. If you could be skin you were definitely running cooler than a shirt. Getting cut, sunburned, and infested with whatever was in the grass was all the more glory.

I forgot all about that. Good memory.
