My first luxury vehicle, I went all out an ultra rare Audi that there is maybe 200 of. A sedan with what used to be super car statistics.

I babied this thing. Full PPF almost immediately after purchase. A second set of wheels for the winter with all season tires to protect the beautiful competition package ultra light wheels and summer tires. A brand new Jeep compass to really protect the Audi on snowy days. Custom cut window shade. Custom car cover. This thing was papered. Even bought her an extended factory warranty and service plan.

Some lady dropped her water bottle, instead of waiting to pick it up she decided to do as we pull off from red light. She mashes the gas, and turns the wheel while reaching. Pushing the SUV into my rear, then slides off the SUV and strikes me in the rear and rear driver door.

Insurance company stopped after $51,000 in damages. No air bags deployed and I drove it to work then the body shop. Total loss.

Fuck... Only 5,007mi

I friend of mine had a similar accident in his Audi SUV. At first glance, didnt appear to be as bad as to warrant a total, but the insurance company saw differently.

Sorry to hear about your Audi. I really enjoyed my Audi and hated to sell it when I got to Arizona but the roads here were terrible and it wasn’t a practical car for moving stuff around.

That really sucks. I hope the police gave a citation for failure to control her vehicle! I presume her insurance will pay you NADA retail book plus low mileage plus sales tax.

I had a 1986 Olds Cutlass that had been my brothers daily driver that My Dad would drive while staying at my brother's in the summer. So a bit of sentimental value there.

After my Dad passed my brother asked me if I wanted it for a winter car and I bought it. Anyhow some idiot thought it would be a good idea to ram me at a traffic light to collect some Insurance money. Because I was coming from a side street, alone in the car, and he had a buddy with him. Bad luck for him the guy next to him was so offended by this he stopped and waited until the police arrived. At which point this Ahole didn't have insurance and he was cited for that and Faulted for the "accident".

My insurance on the car was full coverage State Farm and they put the cost of repair at 2800 dollars. The put the value of the Cutlass at 3600 dollars. So they told that a car with a busted up rear quarter was totaled. At that point I asked if I could keep my "totalled" car and pay for the repair out of my 3600 dollar settlement and they were just fine with doing that. So that is what I did.

Point here is that you may be able to retain that car by taking the settlement and using that you repair your car. Because it's very possible that your actual repair cost may be less than the settlement and in a left handed sort of way you can come out ahead on this.

Two points to consider when doing this. You will want a body shop familiar with Audi's that you are confident will do the job right. Second there may be an impact on it's collector value due to the record on Carfax. However a 1 of 200 model that was correctly repaired may have purchasers ignoring that report. Because this is a 4 door road rocket that is quite rare.

Skins, reading what happened was bad enough but the absolute stupidity of how it happened makes me feel physically sick at the damage and loss.

years ago I had my MINI the RVA dealership for service,
then Mini and BMW shared space, I saw a 5 series in the back that had the entire front removed, nothing but a bit of subframe and unibody from the firewall forward,

serivce writer told me it was wrecked, and they, the dealer, were contracted to remove the entire front, motor etc , so it could go to a body shop to get straightened,
then it would be brought back and put back together,

I figgered that would be totaled, but the service writer jush shrugged and said nope, insurance paying it all,

no idea what the bill was, but had to be at or north of what you quoted

2027 M2 Xdrive, first year for AWD in the M2. I considered a M3, but I don't like the front grill and it's pretty expensive. I'd have to love it. I considered a Z51 LT2 but I don't think I want something that wild looking and lacking AWD.

My current car is literally irreplaceable. There's not one for sale in the entire country. Closest I can find is two years older with multiple times as many miles. 2027 is hybrid and I don't appreciate the looks.

Sounds like where I was with my FiST. There were only 22 2016+ in the whole country after mine was totaled, and only 2 within 500 miles of Houston.

The M2 should be a blast, though I prefer the looks of the 1st gen.

It was taken before it NEEDED timing chains.

This is why I stopped driving Mercedes Benzes and switched to American econocars.

Of course, things being the way they are, I can't afford a M-B any more, but it was a shame to have to avoid them a couple decades early.
