Neither are they, to a point. After Bonavita shipped out TWO replacement units because of failures, I gave up. But to the 90%-95% of buyers who get a decent machine, I'm happy for you, because it is a fast brewer with nice style. I kept the all-glass carafe to make sun tea, and like its design.

It's expanded a bit in scope, but it's basically a group buy website - they make a deal with a distributor for a certain minimum quantity of an item at a certain price, then post it on their website for a couple of weeks, and if enough people sign up to buy it, the deal goes through. If not enough people sign up, it just gets canceled and no one gets anything, but no one gets charged.

Because of that model, many things take a while to ship, because they only actually buy the stuff from the distributor after the signup period is over (and sometimes, the item is a custom item that the manufacturer has to set up manufacturing for after the signup period is over). Their site is pretty clear about expected delivery dates for each item, but you do have to actually look at them.

They've been successful enough that now they also do collaborations with popular brands, and stock certain items all the time instead of using the group buy model for everything.

I've bought a bunch of stuff (mostly audio equipment, some photography and outdoors stuff and knives) from them and been happy.

We're coffee junkies! Almost embarrassed to say how many pounds of beans we added to our stash with the virus stuff going on.

Coming from a French Press, you'll like the Technivorm. It'll brew a decent cup! We drink French Press and occasional Vac Press on weekends, 13yr old Technivorm weekdays. If you have a grinder, start out grinding on the fine side for drip. If it overflows, grind a little coarser....

Yesterday morning I started our coffee maker (14 cup Cuisinart) and forgot to put the carafe in. Chalk it up to lack of sleep and getting used to having a newborn in the house. Needless to say it overfilled the basket and made a mess in the kitchen. Last night we discovered that it was no longer working. In true sigforum fashion I ordered the Technivorm linked above from drop this AM.

After spending $80-$100 on multiple machines that never seem to last more than a year or so, I'm hoping the Technivorm is a long term solution.

I have a Black and Decker steel pitcher model that works great. Every year or so I run a pot of vinegar thru it, other than that, nothing. I think it lasts so long because the pot is insulated. I make a pot, and it's still hot 6 to 8 hours later. It cost 60 bucks or so. Fast, too. Made a pot this morning in about 2 minutes.

Technivorm is a world side company, pretty much, and Technivorm USA has a full service facility, they can fix anything wrong, either defective, damaged, or by a whoops incident. You can also order some parts from them. Technivorm is NOT a throw away chineseium crapola item. You might check out their website. I've even phoned Technivorm USA when I had a question, no issue at all.

For my office at work I picked up an OXO Brew. It gets good reviews, I have been happy with it. Not a fan of glass carafes, it has a nice thermal stainless steel one.

$199, but I got it from Bed Bath and Beyond for $160 after using 20% coupon.

At home we have the Keurig Duo from Costco. Good combo unit for when I don’t want to mess with the French press.

I've owned just about every type of coffeemaker and I've concluded that Technivorm is the best.

It's NOT a throwaway chinese piece of junk, it will last a lifetime and replacement parts and service are available.

Having said all that, I own 2 Moccamasters, one for a second location besides my home.

And having said that, I've not used my Moccamasters much at all lately.

Trying to cut back on my coffee consumption, I've discovered and love using a really unique single cup pourover, the OXO Pour Over, and it's less than $20.

a #2 filter, freshly ground coffee, heat water to 200-205 degrees, pour into the cup and the little holes are sized and timed to disperse the water around the coffee grounds. When done, just rinse things out and set out to air dry. EZ PZY!

Here's a link for one: Link

• Long ago I learned you never leave water in a kettle overnight; for me, never

• My mug is glazed pottery. Do not want to over-fill it! I'll measure 400ml-425ml of water, and pour it in the kettle immediately before the boil; it is the perfect amount, depending on the ground, as some grounds absorb more water

• No need to heat water you will not use. Measuring the water to boil means you use less energy

• Lately I nuke milk in an old creamer vessel for 30sec; releases the sugars as well as not tempering my brew

• Usually I use water which has sat out overnight to allow chlorine to evaporate; six hours is enough; it also brings the water to room temperature; less costly to heat

All of their small appliances are made for them under contract

I have the toaster. It’s pretty. Works pretty well. Better alternatives out there

I’d go Jura in that price point

Beautiful! Run a couple pots of water thru it today (new product). A buddy who I greatly respect runs a pot of water thru his 'vorm before use, even in summer, to get "everything nice and hot'.
