I bought a Technivorm Moccamaster after reading about them for some time on SF--sounds familiar, right?
I bought a used/returned one from Amazon Warehouse for about a hundred bucks off the new price.
They still have those available: Go to Link then click on "New and Used". They are $204 for slightly blemished returns.
We've had no problems at all with ours except that I drink too much coffee. I mix regular with decaf 1:1.

Happy with the Bonavita Connoisseur 8-Cup One-Touch Coffee Maker BV1901TS. It's about 1/3 the price of the Moccamaster, meets SCAA Gold Cup Standard, and was the Best Buy Highly Recommended by America's Test Kitchen. Currently runs about $120 at Amazon.

Agree that for a nice single cup a pour over works wonders. But I prefer the Clever unit as I can regulate how long the brew lasts and therefore the strength of the result. With others, such as your Oxo, it has a predetermined brew time by virtue of how long it takes the water to pass through the grounds via the series of holes in the brew head.

I've been using the Cuisinart Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker - DCC1200 for years... it's simple and indestructible. The cone shaped basket helps make better coffee, IMO.

If you come across either of the Behmor coffee makers, especially the Wifi connected one....skip it. It makes great coffee when it works but it screws up so often that it’ll just leave you frustrated in the long run.

Go for a Moccamaster by Technivorm. Makes an excellent pot of coffee every single time.

Another happy Technivorm Moccamaster user here after becoming pissed off with 2 shitty (but expensive) Cuisinarts in a row.

If you only want a single cup at a time have a look at an Aeropress- https://aeropress.com

Best if you have a separate grinder

... and so easy to clean I just take off the filter holder, a quick thump to put the grounds in the bin followed by a rinse from the kettle.

Makes great coffee!

vandrv - another endorsement here for the Technivorm Moccamaster. I got my first one in 2001, it was the model with the glass carafe, and I loved it. Later on, maybe about 2 years back, I sold that machine to my buddy Jim, and with the proceeds, I bought a demo unit from one of the local coffee roasteries. I got the one with the stainless steel carafe. I also have a Bodum stainless steel French Press, I like it and use it once in a while, but, most days, I end up just brewing some coffee up in the Technivorm drip brewer.
It sure hurts because most places sell it for $299.00, but, if you look at Amazon's open box, or returns, you can still buy an otherwise unused machine for about $199.00. Go the way the good doctor Sjtill went!!!!
Best of luck, let us know which machine you chose

BTW, try to stay away from machines made by Breville ot other makes. Friends who have had them have complained about the machines breaking down in less than a year.

If you think you can, YOU WILL!!!!!

My wife's previous coffeemaker (whoops..that's me)--coffee machine--died, so I bought her a Keurig with a full size pot, that does just a cup, or a pot, and does grounds as well as the little cup things. She loves it. It's held up well, so far.

Thanks for all the replies. I knew I could count on you guys to steer me in the direction of the high dollar Technivorm. That's the way I was leaning anyway. I guess I will go the refurbished route.
I like the idea of the single cup pour over makers, but want something that makes a bit more at a time.

Another vote for Technivorm. You will not be disappointed. Use a good whole bean coffee and grind before brew. A good way to get spoiled.

Own two Technivorm Moccamasters, a 40oz brewer and a Cup One brewer. Also own several Melitta pour overs both plastic and ceramic. Lately I've been drinking instant. Go figure.

The Moccamasters would outlive me even if I used them every day several times a day. I prefer the pour overs when brewing a proper cup as I don't drink as much coffee as I used to and no reason to keep a carafe or thermos full. Instant coffee ... I don't know why but it's working for now ... until I go back to the Cup One or pour over.

That’s a great price. I’ve never heard of drop.com. What is it, exactly?

When I decided to step up my coffee game (from the very high-end 4-cup Mr Coffee!), I toyed with the notions of pour over (chemex), French press or a better drip machine. For my typical morning routine, the drip machine route was clearly the better choice.

I looked at several coffee-focused websites (probably not the best sites for gun reviews) and the Bonavita and Moccamaster were clearly rated high. I bought the Bonavita (with thermal carafe and without heated base plate) and have been very happy. It is very consistent, reliable, easy to clean, etc.

As to nation of origin, I’m not sure I’d stress that point. Given the reasonable price of the Bonavita, I am less concerned about long-term durability. Plus, I suspect that a better-performing gadget will surface before that Bonavita dies.

I don’t mean to be flippant about quality concerns. I’ve owned a 2002 Land Cruiser for 18 years and a Sig P226 for 32 years. I appreciate quality and durability. But, I just personally didn’t think the Mocca’s reviews warranted the higher price (cool style notwithstanding) over the Bonavita. But they are both great choices and I suspect my wife would have preferred the visual appeal of the Mocca.
