There was a kid in my high school named Bruce Lee.

And he was far from being the real one; overweight, tall for a Chinese guy, shy.

The client rep at my bank is named Winston Smith. Not a hugely famous name, but I asked him how often people comment on it. He said only about once a year will someone make the connection.

I used that as an email alias for several years. I was surprised at how little it was recognized.

My friend, Rick Nelson, was an air traffic controller (now retired). He's the alive one.
His namesake, the singer-songwriter, died in a plane crash.

I also know James Brown. He's the man at the Indiana University School of Journalism. He's referred to as Dr. Brown, never as The Godfather of Soul. He does not have a brand new bag, but says he feels good, so good.

I found this out a few years ago when, having nothing better to do at the moment and for shits and giggles, did a Google search of my own name.

I taught Ethan Hunt to shoot.

No kidding.

On a related note, I also found my Charles Bronson issued Florida CWP going through a drawer the other day.

Not an exact match because of the spelling, but there was a client in the shop recently named Zane Gray. And there was a Steve Martin and a Martin Short (but not the famous ones) in my high school.

Ironically, the wife of my next door neighbor 13 years ago was Diana Ross. My wife had a friend named Charli Brown (woman). I worked with a John Holmes.

A famous name would be a pain in the ass but how would would you handle a name like Connie Lingus, or Dick Dangle, Phil Ashio?

Met an Army Aviator whose name was JAMES BOND.

He was good with it. Said it WAS fun to tell women in bars his name. Typical pilot.
