Have any of you that have investments with Fidelity received a notice of a pending settlement regarding a data breach in 2024?

Is this legit?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

No notices of such, yet. Checked email, statements, and notices to make sure nothing got snuck in.

I have a Fidelity acct. I just did a gmail search and have received no comms indicating a data breach.

Probably just phishing.

ETA: Google says there was involving approx. 77k people. May have been confined to Massachusetts as they reached a settlement with the Mass. AG.

Hmmm…

I’m going to shoot an email to my advisor and see if he knows anything about this. I’ll report back.

Edit. Thanks to 83v45magna it looks legit but I’m still going to wait to hear back from my advisor. My account was originated in NH so that’s probably included in the breach.

Why? Are you really that interested in getting a $7 check from another grand settlement? Wink

I always put my claim in for these. You never know what you might get. Most of the ones I’ve received have been in the $30 range, but a nuisance claim on the smell from a local composting company was almost $200 (and I never smelled it, just lived in the “affected area”).

Cellphone company (AT&T ?) settlement years ago ended up being over $500. I guess a lot of people didn’t bother joining the class for that one.

The breach was legit. It occurred in August of 2024. However, it only impacted a specific segment of their customer/account base. So it is probable that many folks here who invest with Fidelity did not receive a notice nor have their data compromised.

Just got the little card today. Options "to claim reimbursement for documented losses":
1. 2 years ID theft protection and credit monitoring.
2. Pro rata cash payment, estimated at $100.
3. If a CA resident claim a one-time $50 cash payment.

The wife received that card Saturday. We both have an account there but only she got the card. I told her to fill it out and send it in.

We both have separate accounts, too, but only I have received a card to-date.

Also sent a note to my Fidelity advisor asking him about this just to make sure it ain't fraud.
