Just gonna leave ( This) right here... just scroll down the page and click on the chapters to the right of the page...shotgun buck and slugs is addressed in the first chapter.....

He uses 12 drywall boards that simulate six interior walls...to show the penetration of differing rounds.

(Once my old chief saw how many walls a FMJ 5.56 will go thru- he dictated we use soft point rifle ammo)

I'd much rather have a novice, under stress, shoot at me with a .22 bullet than a spray of 9 to 32 pellets.

At home defense distances the "spray" of pellets is maybe the size of the palm of your hand.

A novice can spray and pray with an AR. Just point the gun and keep pulling the trigger until the threat(s) go down.

A novice has little hope of effective follow up shots with a pump shotgun. Even without recoil, most novices can't pump and keep their sights on a moving target at the same time.

Also let me add at indoor ranges, a 12 gauge buckshot load is not going to generate a spray of pellets. The spread is going to be slightly more than slug size. If it hit the target, it's going to make a nice mess. If it misses, follow up is going to be slower and less accurate.

Oh and getting hit with a .22 bullet going around 3000 f/s is not something you'd want to experience either.

Does your pump shotgun have more than 10 rounds? Can you follow up as quickly with your pump shotty?

My ARs are featureless and fed with 30 round Lancers (Thank you Judge Benitez!). My P226 or P228 is still my HD gun, but that is only due to my relative competence (or relative incompetence depending on how you look at it Smile). The AR is clearly the superior tool.
