I get the sense Will is melting down

Attention and validation seeking like most celebrities. Not all of course but I'd lump in a very good percentage.
He was likeable as the Fresh Prince, made some movies and then he crashed and burned. Have to do something to get your name back to being spoken. What better way than race.

No, I'm not saying it's fabricated. To me, "fake news" mostly means twisting the narrative of a story into something that does not resemble the truth of what actually happened. I think Will Smith is putting a bogus racial bias spin on the facts and the reporting is enhancing that false narrative.

This is my point said another way. It is fake news because even though Will is now crying modern-day, current racism, it was part of the performance whether improvised or scripted. It is a crap headline and fake news because the headline buys into Smith's race baiting and complaints about racism, and doesn't make it clear that this was part of the making of the movie and not a real life interaction between Smith and the other person. The story, in the way it is reported accepts Smith's narrative, and is not objective in the way it tells the story.

I (and bigwagon, I think) am agreeing with you about the underlying thing this whole story points up. I am sorry that your intolerance toward me blinds you to this.

However, that aside, what is the rule about disagreeing with you? Is it permitted? If it is not, saying so would solve a lot of problems.

I don’t believe that words didn’t anger folks and make them *want* to strike out. I think it was that people just had enough self control to realize that no matter how much they wanted to smack that SOB who so desperately deserved it, it would be inappropriate to give in to that desire.

Something most kids learn around two or three. No matter how much we wish the world revolved around us, it doesn’t. There are limits to acceptable behavior and life generally goes smoother and better if we stay within those limits.

Rock blamed Jada Pinkett Smith for the attack. He talked about how she cheated on Smith. Jada Pinkett Smith has a Facebook Watch show “Red Table Talk” and Will Smith was a guest who she interviewed about her infidelity. That’s right. Pinkett Smith brought on her husband to talk about her infidelity with him on her Facebook show. It’s all so weird, which Rock pointed out.

“We all been cheated on. Everybody have been cheated on. None of us have ever been interviewed by the person that cheated on us on television,” he said. “She hurt him way more than he hurt me.”

“Everybody in the world called him a b—-,” he added. “I tried to call the motherf—– and give him my condolences; he ain’t pick up for me. Everybody called that man a b—-, f—— Charlamagne [tha God] called him a b—-, “The Breakfast Club” called him a b—– and “The View” and “The Talk,” and every rapper, they called him a b—-, his wife a predator, everybody called him a b—-. Everybody! Everybody! And who does he hit? Me!”

Rock made jokes at Pinkett Smith’s expense because, he said, she was angry that Rock was hosting the Oscars though Smith didn’t receive a nomination in 2015 for his role in “Concussion” but he flubbed the reference in the joke.

So did I do some jokes about it, who gives a f—?” he said. “That’s how it is. She starts it, I finish it. That’s what the f— happened. Nobody’s picking on this b—-. She started this s—.”

Rock told he audience he loved Will Smith and was a fan of his music and movies. That has changed. “I rooted for Will Smith my whole life. And now I watch ‘Emancipation’ just to see him whooped.”

At the end of Rock talking about that night, he explained why he didn’t hit Smith back. Earlier in he show, he mentioned his mother was in the audience.

“A lot of people go, ‘Chris, how come you didn’t do, nothing back?’ ‘How come he didn’t do nothing back that night?’ Because I’ve got parents. That’s why. Because I was raised.”

“You know what my parents taught me? Don’t fight in front of White people!”

Do I owe these folks reparations also?

Don't know about you guys but I could feel the deep and abiding emotional pain that Smith's public relations people wanted me to feel.
