You are out of your mind. It doesn't mean you shouldn't use good common sense and awareness though. Anything can happen anywhere, period. If you don't believe that then you should not be surprised when or if something happens.

You are out of your mind. [/QUOTE] Hmmm, ok. Maybe so but if you’re going to make a sarcastic post while quoting a previous post, at least have the decency to quote the entire previous post which happened to include a statement about my above quoted statement being sad due to some nice areas being located within the area within the aforementioned quote. Whatever though, don’t really care. Thing is, I was born in the area in question. Not Houston itself, but very close. In Harris County. Grew up there, went to school, graduated, worked there until my company relocated (thankfully) in 2011. Most of my work projects were in, or around, Houston. It was a very nice city. It still has some nice areas (see my initial post). Thing is, I have watched it decay, and it sucks. I have been on my job for 30 years literally as of tomorrow’s date, and I have personally watched the place steadily go down the toilet. Again, look at my first post in this thread where I actually said that it’s sad. It is, I’m sticking to that. So, I’m out of my mind. Maybe. But there’s worse places to be. Like Houston. ___________________________ Not giving a damn since...whenever...

Not really from Vienna |
I don’t know. I left Houston for good around 1985. I still have numerous friends and a sister living there. From what I can tell, in some ways it has deteriorated. Aside from the roughly 49 weeks/year of unbelievable humidity, the crime, occasional hurricanes, traffic, mold growing on the driveway, sidewalks, and exterior walls of your house, and a couple other issues, it’s a great place. They have good medical care available, for when the stress of living there finally takes its toll. I’m glad so many people like it. It keeps them from moving to the hinterlands.

HPD just released May 28th footage of victim being shot 7 times and still returning fire. They think he got one turd in the back.

In large part, it was a joke, and to prove a point, but I did conceal carry an 4” barreled S&W 500 loaded with light magnum JHP for awhile, when I lived in Houston. Might not be the worst weapon. It actually had very mild recoil.

Not as comfortable as you might think. I have been the victim of attempted kidnapping twice, attempted murder multiple times, and have been studying criminal actions and motives for years. -c1steve

Funny, I was in Houston last week for work. After leaving HEB, I was east bound on Alhambra when I got stuck behind a new SUV doing 10-15 MPH under the speed limit, slowing for green lights and otherwise being inattentive. I merely tapped my horn to remind them I was behind them and to be more attentive. That's when the rear passenger stuck his arm out and lowered a semi auto handgun, pointing it toward the ground. The message was clear - don't honk, we will drive however we want, etc. I gave them wide berth, called 911, gave a description and headed north! P229

Too soon old, too late smart |
“Driving friendly” in Texas means never honk your horn when behind a one car funeral possession. Next time, come north 40 miles, we’ll treat you right in Cut and Shoot, Texas.

This problem is happening everywhere. Look up the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, for example. One of the top income zip codes in the state. Guns were being sold in record numbers the last 25 years. Crime continued to go down, reaching decades old records as more citizens owned and carried them. In the 80's and early 90's, crime was at the other end of the charts. The Republican Congress, with the reluctant support of Bill Clinton, passed anti-crime bills that stiffened penalties and prison terms. Crime dropped for years to new lows, despite all those millions of guns. A couple of years ago the politicians started reversing many of those laws and the usual suspects fanned the flames saying that it was everyone else's fault, but the criminal. The crime rates started to rise and are continuing to gain speed. Some people just don't understand the simple facts of life. Put the criminals in jail and keep the repeat offenders there for as long as possible and crime goes down. Do the opposite and the opposite happens. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

I left the Houston area 9 yrs ago. Native. Seen a lot of changes. Friend has put in for retirement from HPD later this year. Experienced investigator. “Tired of arresting turds out on bail for felonies. Some with ankle monitors.” According to him, judges setting low bail and turd gets out. DA reduces multiple felonies down to misdemeanor. My friend has well over 20 yrs and is qualified for retirement. Says he had a few good years left to do some good, but is completely disgusted. Joining the rush for the door. Too bad. Houston was a great place to grow up and work. Dynamic city. That’s changing.
