I have had my truck since it rolled off the dealership lot. I love my truck, I have always driven trucks, I didn’t want to sell my truck...until
My wife told me in the summer we had our third child on the way. I still didn’t want to sell the truck but knew I had to.
Saturday morning I will go and trade my beloved black beauty in for a new ride
A 2015 Chevy Traverse. The new car runs well, was dealer maintained from day one, and most importantly has a 3rd row and can accommodate 3 car seats.
I will most definitely she’s a tear losing my truck. It was the first and only new vehicle I bought. It took on a deer at 70 mph and kept us all safe. That truck would go to hell and back and do anything I asked of it.
So new year, new baby, new car. Things are looking up. And I still have the work truck to drive

I had 4WD pickups for decades until 2001 and went the SUV route and don't miss them. I got a nice utility trailer for the little hauling I do these days and I'm happy as a pig in mud.

Congrats on your new child.

Jim

I owned various trucks for over 20 years, some as my only ride, others as extras/backups. But under circumstances I'd rather not talk about, I downgraded to a small car in 2008. I'm still driving that car. Realistically, the last time I actually needed a truck was over three years ago. I rented a van for that job. But I still want a truck.

congrats on the growing family, it is sad to let a favorite truck go. I sold one after 18 years of driving and went the small car route, never felt right in that car. Now I'm back in a Tacoma and all is right! Enjoy the Chevy and family.

I understand. Very soon (possibly this week) I might trade in my Barcelona red TRD Sport Tacoma 4x4 for a damn minivan. I never drive my truck anymore and with our growing family the extra room will be great. I thought about a big SUV but the minivan route is MUCH cheaper. The money I’ll save will go towards a MR-2 Turbo, S2000 or Porsche Boxter S, which I’ll enjoy much more than my Tacoma.

I had that same conversation once, years ago. But, my Ranger was paid for and cheap to insure. So it became third vehicle instead.

And now, it might become a high school ride in a couple of years.

Look towards the light...

My son will be driving within a year or two, and he’s getting my Subaru. I’m torn between buying a WRX (which I want), or a truck. I’m eyeballing a Toyota Taco, but I want a “no frills” model. Single or crew cab, manual tranny, and it must fit in my garage.

But damn, I want a WRX!!!

I apologize now...

If you really liked your truck, some day you'll be back in the fold. I managed to stay away for 5 years and now I'm on my second truck and don't see myself without one anytime soon. We have a nice Avalon to drive when we need to go fancy. Of course living in Texas dictates many vehicle choices.

I see trucks and SUVs for my foreseeable future.

Oh, and Ezra, that profile pic is HUGE! Took nearly a minute to load over my bonded T1 lines....

Living in snow country I'll always have a 4wd truck but even if I didn't deal with snow I just like driving it.

FFEMT44;
I feel your pain, brother!

Like DARTHFUSTER, I had to get rid of the screamin' bad-ass VW GTI when the kids came along and go to the mini-van.
It's the responsible, sensible, and "father" thing to do.

BUT . . . when the boys got older and into sports, school stuff, church youth group . . . the perfect solution for haulin' kids and gear was . . . F-150 SUPER CREW !

F*CK YEAH ! ! ! Got the man Mojo back!

Now that the kids are grown and gone, it's time for my mid-life crisis, tail chasin', to-hell-with-practical sports car.
The Mustang GT350 or the next Bullitt Mustang.
At least that's the fantasy.

But . . . I can't imagine not having a truck.
Holster my SIG, put on my Carhartt jacket, and climb into my truck to go do some man sh*t.

So have patience Brother!
The truck karma will return.

I had both for a couple of years until I sold the Expedition. With the crew cab 4-door truck, I had no need for a car/SUV, and could/can still haul whatever I want.

Big Grin The OP must've married one of them uppity wives that "needs" to ride in the cab of the truck Big Grin

I know Sigforum membership requires putting fancy wheel and tires on minivans, but the OP is gonna need a ruling on mid-size SUVs. Wink

In all seriousness, my Dad is on his 3rd Traverse lease and I've enjoyed driving all three.

Congrats on your growing family. Hopefully a truck is in your dna and can get another sooner than later. A man needs his truck, at a minimum.

Hopefully momma can understand that. Wink
