That's the thing free speech advocates need to be working on: A viable alternative to PayPal. Something that's very PayPal-like, but without the social justice and anti-gun attitudes.

I do not understand why nobody's done it yet. I'd drop PayPal in a hot minute if there was an alternative.

Now Patreon? Fuck me I’m tired of this snowflake entitlement bullshit. Lord, thou art in Heaven, please keep me from having to work at a career/job where I have to deal with this overly PC world and snowflakes. I won’t make it.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

My only interactions with Patreon is music and gear industry related.

I hadn't even realized people were using it for other reasons.

Me, too. (For me, it's exactly 12 years within a day or 2.)

It's a good (in theory) service for people who wish to make money online via various platforms. Got a youtube channel, do a podcast, and have lots of facebook and twitter followers, many of whom are willing to pay for your content? They can all be directed to one well-known site to support you.

Patreon has shit the bed now that they've shown they are happy to immediately halt their account holders' income for things they say or do in places and on sites other than Patreon, that they have a bias, that their terms of service are incomplete and misleading, etc.

Patreon just appointed itself the "brand police", and will monitor everything creators do, on every platform on the internet, for all time, and decide whether or not they like it.

Hey, think of all the jobs they are going to create for all those content reviewers that are looking at everything you've ever said, recorded, filmed, commented on, etc....

Jack is gonna be a busy mo' fukka. Oh shit, Patreon is gonna see this comment on SF and erase my page. Damn, there goes my vacation fund.

Go fuck yourself Conte. I hope your platform dies a quick death.

The utter lack of truly neutral or conservative leaning alternatives to this and PayPal and the rest has always struck me as odd.

Patreon is doing its impression of 'The Weekly Standard' and they just don't know it yet

they are probably not drawing in enough money from libtards to sustain themselves, but I hope every conservative abandons them and leaves them in the dust heap

a few lawsuits to drain whats left of their resources would be a wonderful thing as well

as for PayPal...

if we want a host that believes in conservative principles, it needs to be founded, funded and located outside the libtard zone

as for paypal, its the same thing

and perhaps if either of those two resources come to pass, it would be great to categorically exclude libtards

they've set the standard - I say we match it

I was a patron of some of these guys.
I just closed my Patreon account.
Patreon seemed convenient, but there are other ways to support creators.

I need to look into this more. I am a Patreon member paying for a podcast-type service that I truly enjoy. Prior to this service moving to Patreon I had never heard of them.

Now, it seems like they're in the same mold as the Google/Facebook/Twitter fascists.

I'll have to decide if I withdraw my funding for my favorite podcast, or turn a blind eye.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

I retired 26 years ago. That huge computer company, where I spent my career, after 11 years active duty, and I just didn't get along anymore. Too much internal political battling, cozy relationships between male managers and female employees just to name a couple issues.

Our division was sold to another corporation, and those of us who had 25 years service and were age 55 and older got an early retirement offer. Not to mention that we started the next day with the new company at our previous salaries.

I miss the OLD days there, sometimes, for the challenges.

I was in the same position. I eventually decided to close all my Patreon subscriptions. Some of the artists I like aren’t on other sites yet, but I’m hoping that voting with my dollars will motivate the artists to open accounts elsewhere.

I think Patreon just started a backlash on the Silicon Valley Cartel and their agenda.
The more I read/watch about Patreon it just makes me angrier on the whole squashing of (primarily) conservative speak. Mad

I've never been a Patreon user, but, if I were I'd drop the account immediately.

When Twitter dropped, first, Laura Loomer, then combat veteran Jesse Kelly, I signed off, as well as deleted it on my mobile devices, and haven't been back, since. Shortly after Christmas it'll have been a month. At that point I believe I'll be cancelling my account.

All that's left is Facebook. I use that only to stay in touch with family and friends scattered all over the globe. Were it not for that, I'd dump that, too.

I have gone to forgottenwaystosendmoney.com and returned to using checks, envelopes, and stamps. They few creators I support all accept money sent the old fashioned way.

Fuck Patreon and their ilk. I need convenience less than I need to support creators I like.

That sucks. I generally enjoyed the cover music Jack and his wife made and posted on YouTube. Shame he thinks it is OK if his company tries to be the thought police. Jackie boy, that shit never works out, and now you have really stepped in it. If you let these folks back on, the people who hate them will jump ship in protest. If you don't, the folks who agree with them will see you as biased and continue leaving. Either way, folks are going to leave, and the golden goose is gonna lose some limbs.

It's cute that you thought your 'team' could be impartial, but our nation has spent over 200 years trying to balance freedom of speech with stopping slander and libel, and we still haven't found the perfect balance. It was idiotic to think your company was going to do better. Oh well. Have fun wading through the shit storm.
