As the title says, it's been a long rough week, but some of these has been going on since Christmas and I'm a little tired and a little discouraged.

I'm working on another round of kidney stones that started around Christmas, which I also spent with food poisoning.

Since Christmas, I have passed 9 kidney stones, with the biggest being 5mmX4mm until last Saturday. Last Saturday I was on a field trip and BAM(!)it hit. Luckily for me it was a drop-off. I made it back to the compound and called a friend to take me to the emergency room.

I spent 6 hours in there, 5 shots or morphine and 2 more of something else that I don't remember. That got me to a "3" in pain levels.

They measured the stone at 7X7X9MM, made arrangements with my urologist and let me go with a few perceptions.

Went to the urologist Monday and the best he could do is get me in Friday for Shock Wave Lithotripsy (SWL).

So most pain medication and waiting. In the meantime, my dog was attacked by a German Shepherd and Pitbull mix Wednesday evening. She received a shallow puncher wound on her rear thigh. The vet was closed already, and it didn't look to bad. I made an appointment for the next day, and cleaned it with soap and water and a dab of hydrogen proxide.

Everything going well, then 1 AM Ahyoka stats acting a little off. 6:50 AM my sister calls me to inform me my aunt had passed away.

At 10:00 AM was informed the vet had to be out Thursday and wanted to reschedule for Friday.

She had a few pictures of the bite wound and didn't seemed worried. I informed them that Friday I was going into the hospital at 6:00 AM for the SWL. So two vet tech flushed out that wound, and gave me a days worth of meds for Ahyoka and would come by the house Friday afternoon for a check-up and more meds. Which happened.

Back to Thursday and my aunt passing, later that evening I was informed that visitation was Thursday afternoon and funeral Friday morning the time of my procedure.

I was very close with my aunt and this hurt me deeply.

Friday the vet checks out Ahyoka and says she looked good, gave me the meds for her and instructions.

All is fine with us until about 1 AM Friday night/Saturdays morning. Ahyoka gets really restless and can't sleep, I'm in pain and I spent 3 hours on the phone with the after hours service for my vet, and my doctor.

Was informed to give Ahyoka Benadryl up to 50mg and some 3-1 ointment around but not in the wound.

I was told to take an extra pain med, monitor and make sure I have no fever and still passing urine.

So far the Benadryl and ointment seem to be helping Ahyoka sleep/rest. Nothing is really helping with me.

Oh, on top of that last Thursday my sister informed me that a past girlfriend which was 3 years younger than me and was still talking to until a few years ago when she got married died of brain cancer, all the while coming up ( already past ) another friend's birthday and coming up anniversary of his death 7 years my Junior. This guy was as close to a Saint as you could get, didn't drank, never smoked, I heard him say damn twice, shit once and hell three times in all the years I have known him. Truly a good guy.

So, I'm disappointed, disheartened, discouraged, fed up, tired, mad, worried and in pain.

So, some prayer please, maybe a joke or two, and some words of encouragement would be nice.

One local fellow that I know got the SWL and, according to him, it caused high blood pressure that he now has to control with a bunch of pills every day. It may be your only option though.

Take it easy, brother and keep me informed.

It's called life. There are no guarantees. Depending on your beliefs. there is a reason and in the end, God decides when you are called back home.
Consider all this a test of your faith.
Good luck and praying for a positive outcome.

You’ve had a tough spell in a short time for sure. Mental grief & physical pain is a bad combination no doubt. Consider the positives present in your life, take it a day at a time & move forward amigo. Better days coming Wink

That is a handful, this is also a tough time of year.

I know hydration isn’t the cure for all stones, but often it helps. I’d be working on that issue pronto.

The dog attack is unfortunate, with such I’m more a fan of pepper spray than shooting, as able.

Some things we actually have control over, I try to keep those on track. The external stuff, we just have to find ways to acknowledge, grieve as necessary, then move on.

One can read about a tragedy 3 States away & not be bothered, different when it’s friends or family.

After a spate of unfortunate events, odds are things will revert back to the mean(or average).

Brutal indeed. At some point (hopefully soon) you'll be on the other side of it. With a hell of a story to tell. Hang in there.

Wishing things turn around for you soon. Just focus on you for a bit and what you need to get feeling better. Those shockwave things really work but sometimes take more than one. Kidney stones are no joke. The pup may be sensing your discomfort. Hopefully she’s well on the mend.

I guess you're our modern day Job. The most positive things is that you and your pet both survived. Considering how awful it has been for you, things are likely to improve. I pray that is the case.

Any stone that measures 7x7x9mm should get a Social Security number so you can claim it as a dependent on your taxes.

There are no great men. There are ordinary men, who due to circumstance, rise to meet extraordinary challenges.

Seems to me you are in the middle of “extraordinary challenges.” You have within you the capacity to do and endure far worse challenges. Perhaps instead of recoiling from these challenges when one rises and pops you in the snoot, grab that motherfucker and rip its proverbial lungs out.

I name her anguish. It seemed fitting, she joined her sister agony and misery.
