Where's your white flag?

Seems like I've asked you this more than once.

If you want to surrender before battles are fought, write it in your diary, but keep it off the pages of this forum.

There are many things happening these days, that some people said would never happen. Keep that in mind.

I seem to recall a commercial back in the 1960s that had two male goats butting heads a lot for an Excedrin.

What I refer to as the "pharmaceuticals domino effect."

My mother did that. Every time a doc has tried to prescribe me something I've told them "Thanks, but no thanks. My mother ended-up with a small pharmacy in her medicine cabinet. I'm not going there."

My wife has a friend who started out with minor (?) depression following the death of her husband. Doc put her on some-or-another anti-depressant . She's now on a half-dozen or more drugs and has palsy so bad she can barely hang onto things.

My wife's tried to tell her. Response: "But my doctor says..."

People don't understand, and I suspect doctors rarely (never?) tell them: The vast majority of pharmaceuticals don't cure illness or disease, but merely mask or mitigate the effects, and, often-as-not, create new problems.

Yeah, I know. The question was kind of rhetorical.

Not to mention if children were actually educated, it was either go 100% or use the Food Pyramid that is very carb heavy. Supposedly, RFK Jr is going to blow up the food pyramid for one that's higher in protein that keeps you fuller for longer.

Thanks to YouTube and mild medication, my A1C was down to 6.2 while half assing a meal plan. To use a cliche, if I knew what I know now, I could have easily kept my blood sugar under better control along with my weight, and Public School could have easily taught me this but couldn't bother.

If they do away with ads, some people are going to have trouble naming their children.

The advertising in media has (IMHO) little or nothing to do with getting patient consumers onboard with the latest/greatest drugs from Big Pharma. The actual intended "consumer" is the media getting big $$$$$$$ for airing all those advertisements. Do you think for one moment that ABC, NBC, CBS, etc..., would report negative news about hidden side effects or lack of efficacy on their news if that meant these same companies' advertisers would pull airtime? It's a matter of buying influence among these media outlets and keeping the sources "on point."

That right there is why there is no widespread honest reporting of prescription medications.

Just more demons to annoy us.

Maybe so, but the worst of those are far less obnoxious than drug ads. Take the win.

What would satisfy you? Anything? Tell us.

How many times have I said I don't want to see defeatism in this forum? You're just looking for things to be miserable about.

Furthermore, you have missed the point entirely. Direct marketing of pharmaceuticals to consumers is unethical.

Like gigalligan: Missing the point.

The problem with Big Pharma advertising on TV and in other media meant for non-medical public consumption is more the effect their advertising revenue has on that media than the annoyance of the adverts, per se.
