Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best |
A friend of mine gave me a bunch of reloading supplies one time and there was some .458 win mag stuff in there. I told him I didn't know that he had a .458, and he told me that he got rid of it years ago, but at one point he felt like playing with it so he'd bought one (some kind of bolt action, IIRC, not a Garand). He said his small rural Indiana community was safe from rampaging elephants the entire time he owned it, and they never had one incident .

Like a party in your pants |
Living on the far NW side of Chicago I have been prepared for charging grizzly Bears for years and my gun safe reflex this. For hand guns, I have a Dan Wesson 44 mag, Dan Wesson 445 SuperMag, and a S&W 460.The S&W 460 will also shoot the 454 Casull but the S&W 460 is more potent and the recoil not as harsh as the 454 Casull. For a rifle I would grab the Weatherby DGR(Dangerous Game Rifle)chambered in 375 Weatherby Magnum. Over 5100# of muzzle energy. What gun would I actually grab, It would be my Weatherby 12 gauge pump loaded with 3"slugs.
