False on two fronts. Honey may be used as a field dressing because it contains microbes that are non-pathogenic to (post infantile) humans and they compete with / fight other bacteria (including potentially pathogenic strains). Sugar is a wonderful substrate (i.e. energy source) for bacteria but the moisture content is typically too low in crystallized form - not the case over/in a wound.
Honey can go bad primarily due to its sugar content and in the right TTT conditions will crystallize. Similarly it will be rancid if exposed to a sufficient number of bacteria; one can introduce sufficient bacteria by leaving honey in an open environment but crystallization usually occurs first as a result of dehydration.

Huh. I guess I need to recheck my sources. I really don't like giving out bad information (which is why I usually don't post Razz) but I welcome being called out on bad info. Thanks.

Seems like every other day I do something here on the farm that either cuts or scrapes me but nothing causes me more grief than a burn. Keep it super clean. I disinfect the area and then rub Bag Balm over it. That seems to help.

Keep a close eye on that injury and get to the doc if things don't look right.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. Doing good to t his point. I was lucky. A couple more seconds on the heat and I would of really got burned good.
So far keeping clean and using some first aid cream. Cut a live Aloe plant for some cream from it.

A little pain but not horrible. My wife has a caregiver background so I am in good hands. Will see a doc if things go south. So far so good. Again guys, thanks for all the help.

It's too late for this but did you douse your arm in water to cool it off right after it happened?

You got my prayers.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Yes, there is some experience spoken here.

Be careful with Neosporin. Had a minor surgery done and was told to keep it dressed and moist with polysporin or aquaphor. As I had Neosporin on hand and "Its all the same isn't it?", I used Neosporin. I had a nasty reaction, almost hives. The doc said that they see a lot of allergies to neomycin which is in Neosporin but not in Polysporin. If you do use Neosporin, be prepared to switch at the first sign of reaction. Aquaphor worked great once I switched to that. I had normally used Bag Balm for all manner of boo-boos, but I'll probably be using Aquaphor going forward.

All that said, seeing a doctor for this is a *really* good idea!

This! Infection is the big risk.

If I may ask, how? Did you trip or slip on something, or faint, or some other kind of medical problem? One does not simply fall for no reason.

I believe I read about it here years ago - when a bad burn, first cold water quick, then Colgate Cavity Protection tooth paste, then cover with a bandage or I just use a paper towel to cover the burn & toothpaste in place. Pain is gone almost immediately and healing has been quick. No problems through two serious burns to hand and arm, did leave a scar, but I earned it!
